Jade smiled slightly, that tragic smile that was one of her most common expressions. "Maybe." She said, although she didn't sound fully convinced.

Adam said, "Well, nothing is set in stone."

Willard smiled, lifting her up. They were face to face. "yes?"

"We havent had direct orders in weeks." Jackson murmured, licking his lips. "And im starving."

There was nothing, nothing for a long time.

but slowly, shakily, she raised her hand and touched his face, and then it set itself like that suspended eerily.

Jade said, "Well, I was in the middle of looking for food when I found Adam here. So, if you want something to eat... we'll help you if you help us, eh?"

Willard gave her a kiss, hoping she'd respond to it.

Jackson looked up at Adam, as if for permission. He was a very dependant fellow.

She didnt, not really. She blinked at staired at him oddly.

Adam said, "That's perfectly fine by us. And, since you're helping us... we can provide shelter for you two."

Toby nodded and said, "Hooray!"

And at that, Jade smiled, as if all the joy in the world was given to her. It was unusual for her, but much prettier than her usual, sad smile.

Willard made a face, silent.

There was suddenly a loud banging on their cage door, and someone outside said, "Waz 'er?"

Vinn replied, "Those are two new captures. Well... one is a reclaim of an experiment we lost several years ago. Willard, his name was, the only male survivor of the old CAMO project. And his significant other. I keep them together because he goes into panicy fits if they are apart. She seems to be a rare case- something interesting to study. But shes also Catatonic, so they cant to much together."

Jade stood up, and then started climbing up a tall tall tree. It was as if she had done it many times before.

Willard just listened, beginning to shake a little.

The other guy said, "Iz for breed?"

"No, no, shes not for breeding. No. I doubt she can even breed. I think shes sterile."

"...what good iz b*tch ifz not for breed?"

There was huffing. "shes good for study. Shes good for discovering things, for bettering ourselves in knowledge."

Silence. Then, "Again. What good she iz?"

"...Ill get back to you guys on her condition in a week."

"Good boy." The way this guy spoke, it was infuriating. He compleatly disregarded Vinn. "And for male? He good for what?"

"For study and development."

:blah blah, your study! Need rezults!"

"I know! Study brings results!'

"shush, you. I go now, and see rezults in week. Yha?"

"....yha."

Willard clentched his fist, having to bite down on his tongue. Other wise, he'd go nuts and cuss the guy out with every single insult possible.

The guy banged on their door again for something close on emphasys, and then he started away. But he stopped somewhere down the hall, maybe close to catalin, to say something else. His voice was easy to hear because of its booming qualitys-

"Waz wrong with boy?"

Vinns reply was inaudiable behind the wall.

'Why you not shot him?"

Vinn replied.

"Waste, waste waste! He no good anyways. What point to keep him. I would shot him, yha?" A pause. "No, no your escuze. I leave. Rezults, in week."

And he was gone.

The silence was long.

He sighed, "... hello?" He called out.

It took a while for him to answer.

"Aweful fellow, isnt he?"

"I wanna shoot him just for his accent."
