Jade said, "I think almost everyone is biased, Jackson." She smiled, whole heartedly. "And that's one thing that I can trust in this world. But it's nice to be surprised once in a while."

Adam had flushed with shame, putting his gun away quickly. "Well... we're not going to shoot you."

Jade said, "Thank goodness. If you tried, I would have to do something regrettable." Her smile broadened.

Toby laughed a little, then said, "So if you don't want to do what was assigned of you... why did you join the human military anyway?"

Jackson seemed to be fading back into reality. "Military has fallen apart.." He murmured. "Its all the scientists now, the reaserchers. They have their own league going on, and they fight amoungst themselves as well. Most of us are just stragglers and useless anyhow."

for a second- a small second- she seemed to have a slight flicker of happiness in her eyes. but it was gone, and she was still that blank person laying in his arms.

Jade said, "I wouldn't call all of you useless. I mean... there are plenty of you who have been able to tear families apart, make certain species extinct. So, in that sense, many of your kind have made themselves... commendable." She sighed, then said, "I feel guilty that I haven't been destroyed yet. Isn't that pathetic?"

He leaned against a tree and slid down, silent. Baffled by this girl.

He rhair, at the roots, at the very beginning, took on an odd property.

I was lighter, like a gray, or a platinum blond. It was bleached of its color.

Jade said, "I know there are so many people who probably deserve to live more than I. And yet, every day, they're massacred, whether it be through science, or genocide. It makes me sick."

Toby looked up at her, his angelic face woeful. "Don't be sad, Jade."

Jackson looked to Adam hopelessly, as if searching for a counterargument in his mind.

It complimented her eyes, those blank spheres, and her paling lips and skin. It was as if the transformation drained her of her pigments.

Willard cocked his head to the side. It was as if she was an albino. Or maybe even an extreme case of a Day Walker? He couldn't tell.

It may just have been that the physical shock and the genetic manipulation produced this as a side affect- her eyes were not pink, after all.

She snuggled him, her hand falling out of her mouth and hanging suspended in the air. "Upup uppp..." she hwispered again.

She just stare dinto his eyes. there wasnt much life there, no intelegence. but she said 'Wullard' again, as if she just knew how to say his name.

Adam said to Jade, "That's just a coincidence. And maybe you were meant to stay alive." He shrugged.

Jade sat down, mulling this over. "Well.... maybe. But I find that very hard to believe. If I had a purpose in this world, I'd be able to know what I am."
