Which book were you reading?

YES! Thank you XD If I were an awesome didgeridoo player, it would make my life complete.

It's all cloudy and dark here. It makes for a bummer of a day.

Sadie stared at Evander, no emotion on her face, no idea of what she was feeling or thinking could be found. "What did you say?" She asked numbly, although she didn't need it to be repeated. She knew what had been said, but she couldn't believe it. She didn't want to believe it. Drugs, that was believable, alcohol too. But killing people? Never. Prudence was a free spirit, gentle and wild at the same time. She couldn't kill anyone, ever! But when nobody's expression changed, Sadie knew that they weren't kidding. It was all real, a nightmare come to life. Her expression slowly changed from empty, to bewilderment, to horror.

"Where is she? Is she okay? What's going to happen to her!?" Sadie cried, her voice half strangled with a sob. She buried herself in Brandon's arms, scared and hurt and confused all at once. Why didn't she tell anyone? Why didn't she let them help her? Why did she do it!? Cosette started wailing at the sound of her mother sobbing, crying, "Mama! Dada!" She started screaming her head off, her pale face turning pink, fat tears dripping down her face.

The Last Song, by Nicholas Sparks. I've read three of his books in the last three weeks and I love them <3 If only every man could be as heartfelt!

Well, I'd like to learn.. The sitar. I'm really into Indian Classical Music right now.

Brandon wrapped his arms around Sadie while Evander explained, "We don't know what's going to happen to her.. But... But.." He cut off, unable to say what he was about to out loud. It was hard enough to think it. Blaise pitched in and said solemnly, "She's killed a lot of people. This isn't just one person.. It's serious." She then came over and handed the crying Cosette to Brandon, who calmed her down by humming to her softly until she stopped crying.

Sorry, TKD, can't write any more than that!

I love romance stories, but I would have to say that I would rather live in a Jane Austen novel XD The regency era in England was sooooo beautiful.

That's so cool! I like the shamisen from Japan.

And no problem, my post today probably won't be all that great anyway xD

Cosette sniffled and buried her face in Brandon's shirt, still whimpering softly, the tenseness of the room unnerving to her. Sadie stopped herself from crying so she could try to comfort Cosette, rubbing her back in small circles, murmuring words of comfort into her ear. She turn to Evander and said, "So... she didn't tell you either, I assume..." Her face became grave as she continued. "I wish she had told us, or let us help... but then again, if she had, we would all be considered accessories to murder, and that wouldn't be any good either. In a way, she was trying to help, but... knowing the American court system, she'll probably be getting the chair for what she did." Sadie shuddered just thinking about someone getting the electric chair. She remembered when the Oklahoma City bombings occurred, and the man's execution was a big deal. It had freaked her out, because she was young then. It still scared her now.

I read Northanger Abbey recently. It was pretty good, but I felt like not much happened. I actually live near to Bath, about an hour away, where a lot of her stories are set. It's one of my favourite cities, so beautiful <3

Ah, I read about those. In Geisha school the girls are made to learn them so that when they entertain for the evening, they can play them and some of the others dance. I love the Asian sounding flutes as well. In India they're called Bansuri.

Brandon held his family close, comforting both his girlfriend and their baby while the conversation continued. Everyone's upsetting thoughts were starting to give him a headache as they crowded his mind, so he closed his eyes in order to shut them out.

In the meantime, Evander nodded in agreement with Sadie. "I know she was trying to protect us.. But.. If she does get the chair, which she may well do.. I'll never see her again. No real goodbye, nothing," he said. He really wasn't quite sure what to think anymore of what was going on. Of course, he was upset he'd had no idea about any of this until it was too late, but he understood Prudence's reasons for it.. Sort of.

<3 I still have to say I'd want to be the middle sister in sense and sensibility. SOOO AWESOME

I know how to do some Japanese Taiko drumming xD not as cool as shamisen, but still pretty fun.

Sadie said, "Wait, hold on. Would an electric chair really kill a vampire, or not? I mean... you guys can survive poisoning, you don't have to breathe in water. Your nervous systems aren't nearly as sensitive-- or prone to damage-- as those of humans. What if she knew this was going to happen all along? She wouldn't just go in without a plan! That's not the way she does things!" She didn't know if she was just tryng to convince herself, or if she actually believed what she was saying. Anything was possible, right? Anything could happen. She just didn't want to lose hope that things would work out.

I've actually not read many of them. I like other cultural novels like The Kite Runner, A Thousand Splendid Suns, and Memoirs of a Geisha. I also read the Millennium trilogy last year, as in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and such. But I didn't read many classics. I did read Wuthering Heights, though, which I loved.

I haven't tried many Asian instruments. Lots of African drums and such. But I have played a sitar and that was cool =D

"We've all been wondering the same thing," Blaise replied.

Brandon pitched in now and said, "There's just never been an incident like this before.. We've never known a vampire to be given a death sentence before. Of course, lethal injection wouldn't work, nor would hanging or firing squad, those are obvious.. But the electric chair, less so; we just have no idea. Really, she may not have a backup plan because the chances of her being caught were so slim. This is another vampire's doing; no human could track her and find her on their own." The others all nodded in agreement. Of course, they all wanted to believe that the electric chair would be useless, and they had reason to, but when it came down to it, noone could be sure.

I've read a lot of classics (right now I'm working on Les miserables). I really liked Frankenstein.

Nice! where did you get a chance to play one?

Sadie took Cosette into her arms and headed upstairs, not wanting to be in that cramped basement anymore. All of this seemed so surreal, like it was just a bad dream. But it was real, and they all had to face it, not just her. She felt especially sorry for Evander, wondering how he'd be able to cope with the loss of his soul mate. Shaking her head, she sat down on the couch and asked, "What do you suppose we should do? I mean.... I can't stand just sitting around and waiting for the worst to come!"

Working on is the right expression for Les Mis, I imagine! That's going to be a long haul. Oh, yeah. A lot of English classes studied Frankenstein for English. We did Edgar Allen Poe short stories and To Kill A Mockingbird.

They have one at school that's stashed away. Unfortunately, someone had broken a string, and they're difficult to replace, but it was cool :)

Brandon and the others packed up a few things in the basement that they'd taken out to keep themselves occupied before heading upstairs into the living room as well. They all wore expressions of mixed confusion, sorrow and deep unrest, because noone knew what would happen or what they could do, and, frankly, Brandon was getting a headache from hearing it all, and so he blocked it all out. They all sat on various couches and armchairs in the living room. There was a pause after Sadie's question. Noone knew how to answer it. "I don't know what we can do.." Evander said. "It's all so confusing."

Oh yeah. I'm over 700 pages in, with more than 500 to go! It's a very rigorous read, but I recommend it! I LOVE Edgar Allen Poe! And To Kill a Mockingbird is definitely a good book, and the movie is really good too.

What!? No way! That's really awesome! My high school didn't have that kind of stuff lying around.

Cosette didn't seem to be in the same zone as everyone else. After all, she was just a baby, and her mind didn't focus on one thing for too long. She was easily distracted. She began to take her socks off, then throw them onto the floor, laughing with delight. Sadie couldn't help smiling, and bent down to pick the socks up, still holding Cosette carefully. She winced slightly and swallowed, saying, "I don't feel to well. I think this whole situation is really bothering me..." She looked around at the others and sighed. "I only wish there were a solution to all of this.

Well, when I get some time, maybe I will. But I'll have to reread TKAMB a few times to make sure I know it for the English exam.

Haha, yeah. One of Mr. Carey's friends went to India and he asked them to bring one back for him. Yeah, the school don't mind pending thousands of pounds on timpanis and double basses that noone plays but they can't even fork out enough for one, decent working guitar amp. This is my only problem with the music department, noone plays guitar and so noone appreciates what it's like. In gospel choir, I got handed a sheet of chords to play which are completely impossible to play on guitar exactly as its written. But noone could understand that, and noone could help me simplify it either.

Haha, my baby cousin does that. She hates shoes and socks; she just kicks them off and grins at you.

Brandon suddenly remembered that Ysi must be in the house. He went upstairs to find her sleeping in her room. She was so sweet, she took her routine nap despite him not being there to tell her, and despite everything that was going on. Why she hadn't been the basement with the others, he didn't know, but never mind that now. He gently woke her up- otherwise she wouldn't sleep at night- and then brought her downstairs, where she perched in his lap as he sat in an armchair. Being older, she knew something bad was going on, though she didn't understand it, and she kept unusually quiet, cuddling to her Uncle B's chest.

Evander nodded at Sadie's comment. "I just wish we could think of something.. Anything at all. It's troubling. She did something wrong, but she's important to us all.. We don't know what could happen to her.. Oh, gosh.." He smiled sadly at her. "And on top of that, it's all happened on your birthday. I'm sorry for that; I'm sure it's put a dampener on things."

Well, good luck on your exam!! I think you'll do just fine :)

Geez! That sounds extremely frustrating. D: I'm glad they didn't do that at my school.

Awww! I love babies; every time I see one, I'm just like, "I WANT ONE!!!!!"

Sadie shook her head and said, "Evander, I've become used to tragedies happening on important days in my life. Don't worry about it, you couldn't control it even if you wanted to." She cradled Cosette, who was now beginning to whimper loudly, very cranky and irritable from the day's events. Then Sadie got a look of realization and said, "What should we tell Mikey and Angie? We don't want them to leave their honeymoon early or anything!"

I hope so. Its not for a while yet. In June, probably. But some people have had to start it already. Amazingly, for the top band English set, I'm pretty much the only person that likes to read in it.

Yeah, it definitely was. I mean, I simplified it and Mr. Carey said, "But not all of the chords are there!" I mean, I actually took it to my guitar teacher and he said it was physically impossible to play what he'd given us on guitar, and he still didn't accept it at first.

Haha. Well, when she was smaller I was petrified whenever she got handed to me that I'd do something completely wrong. So at first my aunt and uncle thought I hated babies xD

How're things? :)

Evander nodded a bit and said, "I don't think any of us could have foreseen this.. And that's pretty unfortunate, that things happen on important days for you. But, you know, Brandon had so much planned. He really wanted to make it the best birthday you've ever had." He looked at Brandon apologetically, as did the others.

Brandon waved his hand dismissively. "Sure, I tried. But it's not serious.." he said softly. "I just.. Well, of course it's important, it's Sadie's birthday. But I know Sadie always thinks it's the thought that counts anyway." Of course, he was a little disappointed that things hadn't gone quite as planned, but there was nothing he could do about it.

"Oh.. Mikey and Angie.. That's a good point," Evander said. "What should we do? I mean, they barely got there."

Oh my gosh, really!? It's SO GOOD!! (then again, I'm American, I'm supposed to like it...? I dunno, hahaha) And the movie sticks to the book really well.

I watched the Exorcist, and now I get nervous in the dark >> That movie it nuts. Don't watch it alone.

That sounds like a fail! D: I mean, if it's impossible to play, the only thing to do is to simplify it, or get rid of it. You were just doing what made it playable!

Awww! I used to be like that, but after I took a babysitting course, I'm a lot more comfortable with infants and tiny babies! <3 (I'm a sucker for kids)

They're pretty good. Just trying to keep myself entertained. How about you?

Sadie placed Cosette in Blaise's arms, going to the kitchen to make the phone call. She would tell them not to rush home, but just to pray or something.

Cosette looked up at Blaise and cooed happily, trying to pull at her hair, before taking her socks off again. Noticing Ysi, she reached out and whimpered, wanting to be with her best buddy.

Mikey was about to say something at dinner, but his phone went off. "Oh, it's Sadie. I think we'd better take this." He flipped his phone open, then put it on speaker so they could both hear. "Hello?"

"Hey guys, this is Sadie. Something's come up here. It's... Prudence. She's in jail right now, and she's looking at the death sentence."

Mikey's face turned a sickening shade of gray as Sadie continued. "You don't need to come home, just know that we'll be contacting you as much as we can, for the time being. I'm so sorry I had to tell you guys this, but... well... we couldn't just keep you out of the loop."

I liked it. I'm looking forward to reading it in my own time. I mean, reading something in class always makes it drag and you don't take it it. But I also mean reading in general. I'm the only person who reads regularly in my class.

Ah, I don't watch movies like that too often. My Mum hates them, so I don't get much of a chance, even if I did really want to.

Exactly. He can be a little pedantic like that. But, it was cool the other day when he told me how impressed he was that I can play Defying Gravity on piano, because he said he took one look at it and said, "I'm not playing that. Too hard." That's high praise coming from him :)

Ah, I see. I imagine it would be difficult keeping yourself occupied all the time. Things are pretty good, actually. Well, apart from that something in my guitar needs fixing. On a better note, I've got something you'll like to know. In orchestra we're playing a Pirates of the Caribbean medley <3

Blaise happily took Cosette from Sadie, and giggled, softly denying her the right to pull her hair, giggling softly. She did so again when Cosette took her socks off once more. "You're a little troublemaker," she said, picking them up off of the floor and slipping them back onto the baby's feet. Sure, it might not last long, but she was trying, anyway. When she heard her whimpering, she looked down to see her looking after Ysi, who was still perched in Brandon's lap. After having been previously quiet, she perked up a little at the thought of getting to play with Cosette. Brandon let her hop off his lap and Blaise lowered herself to sit on the floor, holding Cosette by the waist and allowing her to stand while Ysi made her way over.

Angie was halfway through a bite of food while Mikey put Sadie on speakerphone. When she heard the news, her throat contracted a little and she coughed a couple of times to clear the food, before swallowing- a slow process, her mouth had become so dry in only a matter of seconds. Her complexion paled and she silently set her fork down. When Mikey didn't say anything for a little while, Angie spoke up and said, "No, don't apologise.. Thanks for letting us know. Are you really sure you don't want us there..? Is there anything else we can do?"

I've definitely been in that situation. Heart of Darkness was the worst experience I had in English literature.

Oh my gosh, I love getting scared, but I hate the aftermath of it. XD And I don't normally watch horror movies anyway.

That's awesome! (both that he complimented you and that you can play it!) I'm going to try and keep working on my piano skills.

Ahhhh!!!!!! That's SOOOO awesome! You need to get someone to record it, and then send it to me so I can hear it! What are you playing for it?

Cosette squealed happily, clapping her hands and reaching out for Ysi, a big grin on her face. "Sisi!" She called her bestest buddy, waving her little arms and trying to cuddle close to her cousin. All of the tension and unhappiness was too much for such a little baby. She would rather play games and cuddle with people.

"No, it's best that nobody else get involved. Prudence... she wouldn't want it that way, not at all," Sadie replied, sounding somewhat distressed. Mikey sighed and rested his face in his hands, at a complete loss for words. Sadie figured it out after a few moments of silence and said, "I'm going to let you two go now. All I ask is that you keep us in your thoughts... and her, too." With a click and a beep, the phone call ended, and the only sound was the dial tone from the phone.

We're reading An Inspector Calls right now. Oh, the joys. It was pretty funny, though. I came in ten minutes late today because I had my piano lesson, our teacher set the dullest worksheet known to man for us. And then the fire bell went. Usually we get annoyed about it, but a cheer just erupted from the whole class because it saved us from doing the sheet xD

The closest thing I've watched to a horror is Scary Movie! Haha. There you are. Well, I've watched a lot of Thrillers, of course, but they don't really count, either.

Yeah? It's a great instrument. It's so versatile, and because it's a homophonic instrument it can stand on its own.

We always do a recording of it at the concert. So after the next concert, I'll get a CD and post it on myspace. I'm playing piano. You probably won't hear me so much, because I play the bells and xylophone parts and such, but the whole thing is cool. I'll actually put the Silent Night arrangement we did on there. You'll definitely hear me then.

Brandon smiled as he watched Ysi and Cosette playing with each other. He was glad that his daughter was so small. When you are that small, troubles are short lived and easy to forget, and so Cosette and Ysi didn't have to worry all the time about what was happening, and he was glad for that. Ysi hugged her cousin Cosette tightly, grinning as she did so. She was never happier than when she was either A) with Cosette or B) With her Uncle B and whom she was sure was soon to be her Aunt Sadie- she hoped so, anyway.

Angie sat stock still for a moment until the highest frequency sound within the dial tone began to bother her, and she switched the phone off before setting it back on the table. She gingerly took one of Mikey's hands, playing it with as she mulled over the news. "I.. I just can't believe it. I never thought.." She trailed off, quite unsure of what else there was to say. This was the last thing she'd been expecting to hear when Mikey had said Sadie was on the phone. For a start, she hadn't expected bad news, let alone the terrible, horrific story that had now been told.

I've never heard of it, actually. Who is it by? O=

You like Scary Movie? Have you seen the third one? It's SOOO FUNNY!!! XD Especially the parts with the girl from the ring.

I agree. And it's nice to not have to sacrifice chords for lead melodies and such. I feel like with guitar, that's a lot of what you have to do.

Oh my gosh, that's SO AWESOME! My high school did a "Pirates" medley when I was in 9th grade. I can't wait to hear yours, because it's full orchestra.

Suddenly, the phone rang. Sadie dashed to the kitchen and picked it up, then stood in silence for a few minutes. "Yes... of course, I'll put him on. Right away." She came back into the room and said, "Evander... it's Prudence. She's getting her phone call from jail, and she says it's very important." She went back to sitting by Brandon, and watched the girls playing on the floor. Cosette cuddled close to Ysi, and gave her a sloppy kiss on the cheek. "Sisi!!!" She squeaked, making breathy laughing noises.

Prudence waited on her end of the call, feeling nauseous and happy and sad all at once. Please... talk to me...

Mikey was still at a loss for words. He felt like the wind had been knocked out of him, and he wondered why he hadn't known, how he couldn't have seen what was coming. He squeezed Angie's hand weakly, shaking his head silently, his eyes burning with tears he was unable to shed. "Angie," he finally croaked. "I only wish we could do more."

J. B. Priestly. It's a play. It's pretty famous, actually. Though more so here, because it acted as propaganda for the socialist party during the late 1940s and helped to win the Labour party the election.

Yeah, that's the one I saw most recently, I think... I THINK anyway. Is that the one where the woman gets pulled in half and half of her is in one tree and half in the other?

Well, guitar is not so bad, either, because you can at least play chords with it, and with fingerpicking you can do both. It's things like flute, which, though I think they're beautiful, can't play chords and need an accompaniment.

I have to say, we were only sight reading today and it sounded pretty darn good.

Evander nodded mutely and went through to get the phone. Just before he was about to pick it up, he hesitated. All in all, he wasn't sure how he felt about all this. Of course he wanted to talk to Prudence. He loved her. He was just afraid of what might happen. Just hearing her voice would make him hurt more inside. Eventually he sighed, thinking it silly that he should eve consider not answering, and picked up the phone. "Hello?" he said softly, suddenly feeling slightly nauseated.

Angie sighed softly, squeezing his hand in return. "So do I, Mikey.. More than anything, I wish I could think of something that we could do to help.." she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. But there was nothing, and sitting back while it all happened only made it worse.

I'll have to look into it! We didn't review it in school.

Well, there's a lady who got hit by a car, and was pinned to a tree (she was split in half, though). She tells her husband, "No s*x." And he pretends not to hear her.

I'm not good at fingerpicking at all, really. I'm much better with chords (although my tiny hands don't help a bit xD)

Sight reading <333333 I miss it so much. But dang, if you guys sound pretty good sight reading, the rehearsed performance will sound just as good!

Prudence sighed with relief and replied, "It's me. Look... I'm sorry I didn't tell you. I wanted to, but I couldn't put you in danger-- or the rest of the family. I did it because I love you too much to put you where I am right now... Listen. They've already set my sentence: the electric chair this evening." She paused, to give him time to absorb that fact. "I love you, Evander. Do you remember our first time together, when we made love to each other? It was on the beach... midnight or so, I think. On the cusp of Saturday and Sunday... tomorrow is a Saturday. I wish I could be there with you... Promise me you'll remember that time. Think about it, and hold onto it as long as you can. And tell Brandon and Sadie to go on with their plans for today. Between you and me, it's to keep them as much out of this mess as I can." With that, the officer took the phone and hung it up.

Mikey moved to sit beside Angie, taking him in her arms, planting kisses in her hair. "I can't imagine you being torn away from like, like Prudence has been torn from Evander. I would die without you. I'd be nothing." He planted a fierce kiss against her lips, almost hungry, but not quite. His passion for her increased as he thought of keeping her with him, protecting her.

There's a film of it. It's probably worth watching, rather than reading, because it's a play.

Yup, that's the one I saw. And she asks him, "Which half of me are you going to take? The top half so you can remember my face?" "No, the bottom half." "Um, why?" "Should I demonstrate with the hot dog and the donut for you?" Sadly, and somehow slightly worryingly, I don't remember much more than that part xD

I have pretty small hands, too. But my new guitar had a special scale length because it's got 24 frets, and the neck has a wide surface but a thin bulk behind it, so it's perfect for small hands. And you only get it all with PRS, that's another reason why they, in my opinion, make the best guitars. Remember I recommended Epiphones to you? Personally, if you can strecth a few dollars extra, one of the PRS SE models would definitely be much better. More reliable, better sound, easier to play. And, also in my opinion, more beautiful, but you'd have to judge all that.

I always download a few pages of something, and its really benefitted my sight reading. In my graded exam I got 19/20 marks for sight reading :)

Evander involuntarily gasped when she told him the news. She continued before he could bring himself to answer, and by the end of it all he was choking as he tried to hold back the tears. "I do remember that. I couldn't possibly forget it. You'll always be with me, Prudence, and whatever happens, I'm glad that I shared at least a little part of my life with you, you've made me happier than I've been in a hundred years, and I have to thank you for that." His words seemed crude now. He couldn't even look her in the eye and tell her how he felt, on top of the fact that words could never be enough to really express everything he wanted her to know. "I love you, too. I always will." When the dial tone was all he could hear on the other end, he was barely able to move, and he took a few seconds to compose himself before putting the phone down.

Angie gently placed a hand to his face, caressing his cheek lovingly. The thought of ever having to go through something like that was unbearable. She couldn't live her life anymore if Mikey wasn't there to share it. She kissed him in return, equally passionate. She wanted to say that it would never happen, but considering that something as unbelievable as Prudence being put forward for the death sentence had just happened.. Who knew? She just wanted to hold onto the moments she had with her husband.
