Mello tilted his head innocently. "You heard me... Yours and L's baby. Me prodding at your stomach probably isn't doing it any good... So tell me, what're the names you had in mind?"

Sakura sat up, her eyes narrowed. "Don't go there, Mello. Just turn around and walk away."

Matsuda simply shrugged. "I guess since no girl has ever really liked me much, I just get my joy from other people's relationships..."

Matt could barely supress a grin now, glancing over the top of the DS to watch the scene unfold.

"You have lots of time of on the case," L said, turning away and starting to walk towards the door. "Don't spend it here, just go out."

Mello sat next to Sakura. "Don't go where? I just want to know the name... or names."

Sakura scowled. "One last chance. Leave."

Matsuda nodded, his eyes saddened. "I'll be out there in a few minutes..."

Light's eyes were closed and he was on the verge of collapsing.

Matt couldn't keep quiet any longer. He snorted with laughter, closing his DS and watching the pair.

L pulled Light sharply with the chain, walking out into the corridor.

Mello reached out to place a hand on Sakura's stomach. "There's no need to deny it. Having children is a beautiful thing."

Sakura growled, slapping Mello across the face and driving her fist into his 'chocolate balls.'

Light stumbled forward, following after L slowly and drowsily.

Matt laughed again, sliding down the doorframe to save from having to hold himself up.

L slid his free hand into his pocket, lifting the chained one back up to his mouth. "Light, are you going to sleep today while I watch the cameras?"

Mello doubled over and fell off the couch, curling up.

Sakura swung her legs up onto the couch, sprawling out and not really paying any attention to Mello.

Light yawned. "What do you think?" he mumbled, his words slurred together.

Matt pulled his DS out of his pocket, still laughing quietly to himself.

"You said you couldn't sleep like that," L said, chewing his thumb. "Was that just to get me to take the handcuffs off, or abandon the case for a while?"

Mello glared up at Matt, annoyed that he was enjoying this.

Sakura looked over at Matt. "I wouldn't be laughing. You might be up for a second round."

Light groaned. "I. Just. Want. Proper. Sleep."

 

[.chasm.]

Matt stopped laughing immediately, looking down at his DS.

"You can have proper sleep," L said, walking into the main room. "You could have had proper sleep last night. You're acting childish."

Sakura plopped her head down on the couch, sliding her eyes shut.

Light scowled, dragging his feet as before. "You're being childish." he mimicked under his breath.

Matt glanced over the top of his DS again and smirked at Mello.

L stopped and turned around, first looking at Light, then the chain. "We've already established thst Kira is childish," he said, chewing his thumb. "If you are, too, then it just raises my suspicions."

Mello growled, pulling himself off the ground.

Light straightened up and stretched. "You're just about as childish as me, Ryuuzaki."

"Told you," Matt said, staring at his screen and sticking his tongue out slightly in concentration.

"I know I am," L said, staring at Light. "But Kira is the same as me. If you're being childish, you could be Kira."

Mello glared at Matt and went over to his chair in front of the monitors, plopping down.

"Told him what?" Sakura asked.

Light scowled. "I'm not being childish, I'm being pi**ed off at the fact that I can't sleep in my own damnn bed."

Matt looked up from his screen quickly. "What? Uh...nothing..." He shook his head, then smirked at Mello.

L tilted his head, chewing his thumb. "I didn't say you couldn't sleep in your bed. It's just easier for you to sleep in the main room. I could bring my laptop into your room to work tonight, if you want."

Sakura sighed, curling up.

Mello growled. "Smirk again and I'll tell Tala what."

Light smiled. " Yes please." he said happily.

 

[.chasm.]

"Shut up," Matt muttered, rolling his eyes. "Don't say anything about it."

"Of course," L continued, staring over Light's shoulder and apparently not listening to him. "That means that I have to bring all of the laptops I can into the room, because surveillence would be too difficult on one. And I'd need to have someone else to help me with the surveillence..." He looked back at Light, chewing his thumb. "I'm sure than wouldn't bother you, though?"

Mello stared back at Matt. "I had a quicker recovery."

Light frowned. "Screw it. If it means having all that, sleeping in the stupid main room is almost worth it."

"Of course you did," Matt said sarcastically, rolling his eyes again. "Face it, you're not better than me."

"I thought so," L said, turning around again. He chewed on his thumb as he walked, pulling on the chain.
