Sadie said, "I'll only accept it if we really need it, dad. Just because I don't want to abuse your kindness. I'm really glad that you offered, though. Thank you so much."

Sadie's mom said, "Sadie, you're acting completely ungrateful. Here your father is, offering you money, and you won't even accept it! It's for your children, you know!"

Sadie glowered. "Mom, please. Stop."

I'm predicted A* in maths, but this test can only get a B. I get two more this year. So I'm hoping it won't be too hard if that's the case..

Brandon frowned and spoke up this time. "Yeah, it is for our children. And, lets face it, you've clearly shown an interest in said children so far," he said, his sarcasm could be heard, but it wasn't so obvious that it was patronizing. "So why is it that you suddenly care now?" He paused. "I don't mean to be rude, but I won't let you give Sadie crap like that. I don't care if you're her Mum or just the next door neighbour."

"I've been interested in my daughter's welfare for years! I've called numerous times, to her home phone and cell phone. But she ignores me, and blacks my number. The only reason I'm here is because Mikey called me and told me about the baby. I wanted to make sure Sadie was okay, as well as the baby, and to see if the father is a good one. So far, I haven't been impressed with hat I've seen her."

"Andrea, please be quiet!" Her father said suddenly, glaring at her. "You need to support her, not criticize her!"

I'm just making sure that I don't get nervous about it.

"I was talking about your grandaughter. You tell Sadie that she should take the money because it's for the welfare of our child, but you don't look like you care about our child at all. You haven't talked to her, held her, said anything about her. You haven't even looked at her," Brandon continued. "And as for what you think of me. Well, you can judge me all you like. You've gotten on my bad side, but that's not my problem. I love Cosette and I love your daughter, and that's what matters to me. If you don't approve of me, well, fine. But I'm not going anywhere."

Sadie's mom said, "Well, frankly. I don't think she should have a child at this point in her life. Honestly, I think she made a mistake."

Sadie jumped up, her face red with rage. "You total wench! Get out, get OUT! I don't want you here, don't you dare call our baby a mistake! You're not welcome here, until I say you are! You never utter a foul word against Cosette. She's a baby, for goodness sake! How could you be so hateful!?"

Prudence came into the room, glowering. "Sadie, do you need some help?"

Sadie said, "I can handle this."

I'm generally pretty good at keeping cool under pressure.

Which reminds me, I passed my piano exam with merit =D

"Sadie and I are very lucky to have this child, and particularly now was a good time, but for reasons you'll never understand," Brandon said. "She wasn't an accident, and she definitely wasn't a mistake. She's going to make no difference to Sadie's future, I assure you. She'll be a musician; she's definitely good enough." He knew that was going to tick off Sadie's mother.

Sadie's mother scoffed. "That's a poor career choice. I ca't believe she's still following that lost cause!" She said cooly, looking up at Sadie with eyes like daggers.

Sadie's eyes filled with tears. "You.. you don't understand anything! I'm happier than I've ever been in my life!"

Sadie's father said, "Andrea, be quiet now!"

Sadie's mother glowered at him. "I knew there was a reason why we got a divorce!" She got up and left quickly, irate beyond belief.

"You... got divorced?" Sadie asked.

"Yes, about a year ago. We called you to tell you, but... it didn't work out. But despite that, I want to be in your life, and I want to be your dad again. Please forgive me."

Sadie beamed. "You stood up for yourself, dad... yes, I forgive you." She hugged him tearfully.

 

[KERFUFFLE]

Brandon stood up and allowed himself a moment to cool down. The scene in front of him helped a lot. It was good to see that at least one of Sadie's parents had finally come back to be there for her. Eventually, he said to Sadie's father, "It wasn't aimed at you, of course, but I'm sorry that I.. Lost control of myself in front of you. It can't give a good impression."

Sadie's father said, "It was actually quite funny, you telling her off. Don't apologize, there's no love I feel towards her." Then he said to Sadie, "You don't mind if I visit occasionally, do you?"

Sadie replied, "Not at all. Cosette will need at least one of her grandparents in her life. And, if Mom can somehow change, maybe she could be involved someday." She smiled, then took Cosette into her arms.

Cosette smiled at Sadie, cooing.

"Well, I just wanted you to know I'm not like that with your daughter," Brandon chuckled. He wrapped his arms around Sadie's waist from behind and kissed her temple. "We'd love to have you here any time you decide, and so would Cosette," he smiled.

As if she could have understood, Cosette squeaked happily from Sadie's arms, smiling.

Sadie's father nodded. "Well, next time, I'll talk to one of you directly before dropping in. I'm sorry you didn't have much notice." He gave Sadie a quick kiss on the cheek, then shook Brandon's hand. "I give you my full blessing, so long as you take care of Sadie and Cosette. Well, I'd better be off. I'm flying to China tomorrow."

Sadie's dad said, "I'm an executive for a company that focuses on biology and medicine." He gave Cosette a kiss on her nose, which made her squeal. He nodded to both of them, then left.

Sadie sighed and sat down, gently cradling Cosette. "Well... that was... interesting, to put it kindly."

Play pianp I suppose. But my plans on what to play are screwed now.. I don't know if a wine bar would apprrciate Einaudi..

"Yeah, it was," he agreed with a heavy sigh, slumping back down onto the couch and putting an arm around her. "Your Mum is quite a character.."
