Brandon seemed thoughtful. "Cosette. I really think that's a beautiful name," he said, smiling. "Suits her perfectly."

Sadie held Cosette close, then noticed that the baby was shivering slightly. It was cold, and dark. And Sadie knew that the baby would need some sort of care or treatment at a hospital. And Sadie knew she needed to do something about the pain she was still in, and how bad she was feeling. "Cosette... we need to get her to a hospital. Now." Sadie said, feeling dizzy. She put the baby in Brandon's arms, then lay down, and fell unconscious.

Prudence stared for a minute, before realizing that Sadie's condition was unstable. She hoisted her up. "We have to hurry." Prudence said, trying to be calm. "Or Sadie might... she might..."

 

[KERFUFFLE]

Yes! Back to the drama! =D

Brandon picked up the blanket, wrapping up Cosette in it gently to keep her as warm as possible. He looked around. "Heck, just run with her, Prudence, it's probably just as if not faster than in a car," he said, and the other vampires were already pointing out the quickest route to the local hospital.

because that would be no fun.

Prudence nodded, and started running as fast as she could go. Which, by the way, was really fast. "Hurry up, guys! The baby needs care too, you know!" She called, darting through the streets.

Sadie slid in and out of consciousness, but when she was awake, it was only briefly.

This clearly isn't a fairy tale, then?! My mistake xDDD

Brandon was already running at a similar place with Cosette in his arms. She'd stopped shivering at least, but that didn't mean anything.

He was right that they could easily get there faster than any car could have. A worried looking receptionist showed them to a ward right away. He was reluctant to give the baby to the nurses, simply because he felt like he needed her there with him. He sat down in the chair next to the bed that was designated to Sadie.

Ahem... no, not a fairy tale.

Cosette was fast asleep when the nurses took her into the maternity ward. Besides being a little bit chilly, it turned out she was completely healthy, and would soon be ready to go home.

Sadie, however, was not doing so well. Her blood loss was astounding, but Prudence knew that it was because having a vampire baby was more trying on a human's frail body. Plus, not only had she lost blood, but she had been out in the damp and the cold, and hadn't had any hospitalized care.

Sadie simply lay there, her normally golden skin pale and pasty.

 

[KERFUFFLE]

Darn it! I was convinced! xD

Brandon sat there with one of Sadie's hands in his. Even to him, she felt cold, and he knew she looked pale. He looked like a broken man again; of course he was blaming himself completely for all of this. He was glad, at least that the doctor had been honest with him, rather than giving him some kind of false hope.

Sadie pulled herself out of unconsciousness, and smiled slightly up at Brandon. "Hey..." She murmured, sitting up slightly.

Just then, a nurse brought in Cosette, and placed her in Sadie's arms. "She's all cleaned up, and as healthy as can be." The nurse stepped out, to give them privacy.

Cosette stared up at her parents, with Sadie's big hazel green eyes.

 

[KERFUFFLE]

I forgive you

Brandon asked at Sadie, "How are you feeling, baby?"

He looked down at their child and smiled, taking one of Cosette's tiny hands in a few of his fingers. "Hey, beautiful," he said softly as she looked up at him and attempted to wrap her little fingers around one of his.

Huzzah!

Cosette just looked around the room now, with the awe of discovering that she was in a whole new place.

Sadie said, "Terrible. But I don't think I'll be here too long." She watched Cosette's discovery of the hospital room.

 

[KERFUFFLE]

"Please tell me you meant that in a good way," he said, averting his attention from Cosette for the moment.

I'm going to a party tonight! we're going to go to the mall and hang out, then go to a hotel and swim and sleep and stuff xD

I might bring my makeup, so I can do makeovers xP

Sadie sighed. Gently, she told him, "I really don't know, Brandon. When the doctors were working on me... let's just say it didn't sound like good news. But at least I'm awake, so if these are my last days, I'll be able to spend them with you and Cosette."

Cosette burrowed into her mother's hospital gown, looking like a tiny pink puff in Sadie's arms.

 

[KERFUFFLE]

"You know I won't let you slip away from me, Sadie. I told you I'd do anything to have you, absolutely anything, even if I never wanted to. You know what I'm talking about, and you used to ask me if and when I would. And you know I will if you get that bad," Brandon said to her.

Sadie smiled slightly. "I know. Brandon... thank you, for everything. I love you so much, and I know that you'll always look out for me and Cosette."

Cosette suddenly gave a loud whining noise, and then started wailing.

Sadie immediately said, "She's hungry. Let's see if I can get this whole feeding thing right...." She shifted, and found that she was lucky, and could easily get Cosette to eat. "She'll also need... b-l-o-o-d, won't she?" She asked, keeping Cosette close, so she would get what she needed.

 

[KERFUFFLE]

That's when the questions about how we know each other start coming up xD

Brandon nooded. "Yeah. I'll get something figured out for that. I'd give her mine, but it wouldn't do anything. And she's certainly not having any of yours right now," he said.

Well, I would say, "We just met at some point in some time. so oh wells!"

and my friends would be like, "Oh! That makes sense!"

Sadie chuckled slightly, cradling Cosette gently, as if she were afraid the baby might break, like china. She eventually pulled the baby up, and burped her, then handed the baby to Brandon.

Cosette cooed loudly, and managed to stick some of her fist into her mouth.

 

[KERFUFFLE]

I was on holiday and got lost and you gave me directions, perhaps xD

Brandon took Cosette from Sadie very carefully and cradled her close to his chest, gazing down at her as if completely mesmerised. "I never thought I'd see this day, you know. I never thought I could have a child of my own," he said quietly.

Cosette stared up at him, with almost the same sort of mesmerized wonder. She removed her fist from her mouth, and reached up to touch her father's shirt.

Sadie smiled slightly at the two. "Well, you do now. And you have me. And we'll be a family, for the rest of our days."

 

[KERFUFFLE]

Cosette's tiny fingers left little dots of a handprint on Brandon's shirt, it having been in her mouth. He chuckled, and at his smile, she did the same, trying her best to get a hold on his shirt. "You know I always would have been happy had it just been you and me for the rest of eternity. I always wanted you to tell that, in case we never could have a child. I suppose that's why I love this baby even more. I never expected to have one, and she's made me even happier than I already was."

I'm watching this guy's review of captain planet. It's freaking hilarious.

Sadie beamed at him, and said, "You're so different from almost every other guy I've met. Most of them freak when a baby's put in the picture. But your face when you knew that I was having a baby, and the amount of joy I could just feel from you... it's made me even happier about our blessing. And, she's the most beautiful baby I've ever seen."

Cosette kept smiling up at her father, gently tugging on his shirt.
