Morgan took a deep breath and said, "Someone broke into my grandma's house and shot her and Cody. They're both in the hospital. It's not looking so good for Cody..." her voice cracked and she continued to sob. "I can't lose him, Asher..." she cried.

Asher tried not to make it worse for her in any way, but it was impossible for him not to gasp at the news. "I know, Morgan. I know. I'll get you there, I'm sure he needs you right now." He knew where the hospital was, and quite frankly, in the snow and in the middle of town, it was just as quick, if not quicker to go on foot. Since she'd just collapsed on the floor, he figured she didn't want to run much. So, he picked her up in his arms and just ran, all the way to the hospital, at full speed and without stopping.

ooc: dxmn, i so wish Asher was real... <3 haha.

Morgan hadn't even realised that Asher had picked her up. Once she did recognize the fact that she was no longer on the ground, in the snow, they were already at the hospital. Morgan let go of Asher and ran inside to the front desk. "I need to see Cody Doyle. Now." she growled.

"I'm sorry, Cody can't have visitors at this moment in time." the receptioinist said sweetly and ssympathetically.

"I don't fxcking care. He's my fxcking brother and I better get to see him now or I'll get angry, and me angry isn't pretty." Morgan whispered fiercely, her eyes narrowing.

"Okay, I'll just go talk to the doctor...." the receptionist said, hurrying off.

Morgan paced back and forth, now angry with herself. "It's all my fault..." she mumbled, still pacing.

Me, too. A hot guy with black hair, amazing eyes, and a total buff hero <3

I hate all my male characters for all these reasons, just varying on the hair colour xD

"It's not your fault," Asher told her reassuringly. "You were trying to protect him and that's what you were doing. You had no idea his would happen. I mean how often does it happen to you? Hardly ever, if at all." He put a hand on her arm to stop her pacing and said, "You need to be less hard on yourself, you do everything you can for him. You're amazing."

<3<3<3 haha, I think I'm in love! Jk :)

"Well, I should have just kept him with us, then this wouldn't have happened..." Morgan said, sitting in a chair. "Asher, I'm sorry to break it to you, but I'm really not 'amazing'. I probably could do more for Cody, but I can't. I don't want to send him off to a boarding school, even though it'd be a whole lot better for him. It would keep him out of trouble and away from my dumbxss father, and away from his terrible sister..."

Haha xD

Oh, back a bit later. I'm about to get some dinner :)

"You do a heck of a lot more for him than a lot of people would. I could tell, when you picked him up from school, that you adore him and he loves you so much," Asher protested, sitting in a chair next to her. "You can't be a terrible sister if you try so hard for him and if you really care about him as much as I think you do. I wish I could be like that. I run from things like that; when things get really difficult, I'm usually to scared to face them. But you haven't. You've taken care of him and you haven't taken the easy way out to send him away."

The nurse came in and motioned for Morgan to follow her. Before she left, she looked Asher in the eyes and said, "Asher, you are the best friend I've ever had. And I promise I'll get you home as soon as possible." Then, she turned away and followed after the nurse.

The nurse lead Morgan into the room. Morgan held back tears. COdy was lying in bed with bandages all over his chest. "Sissy..." Cody whispered. Morgan rushed over to Cody and took his hand. "Hey there, buddy." she said, her voice shaking a little bit.

Asher waited. He sat with his fingers crossed, and though he had never been a believer, he did pray for Cody to be alright. Whoever had done this, had shot an old woman and a defenseless child.. He wondered why anyone would do that.

Morgan forced a smile and told Cody, "Everything will be okay..." Cody said, "I know it will be, you're here." Morgan smiled and softly kissed her brother's forehead. The doctor came in after a while, "I'm sorry, Morgan, but you'll have to go now. We need to take your brother to ICU." Morgan nodded and stood. "I love you, Cody." she whispered, squeezing his hand. "I love you too, Sissy." Cody said, kissing her hand. The girl walked out of the room back to the waiting room, over to Asher. "Let's go." she said so softly it was almost inaudible.

Asher did so, following behind her, looking thoughtful. "But he was awake, and talking, right? That's always a good sign." When they got to the car, he said, "You just have to hope and cross your fingers now. Things will be okay.."

"It has.." Asher agreed softly, nodding his head sadly a few times. "If only this hadn't happened, because, despite everything else, it had been a good day. I could have maybe written off the other things, but not this."

"Well, you can't say it didn't make for an interesting day. At least that's one thing good you can say about it. My days are never usually that interesting," Asher replied with a quiet chuckle. "Turn right here," he directed, and then gave her further directions to his house.
