Willard smiled big, "my my, what a potty mouth." He kissed his chin. "You're really changing, huh. Growing up. But you're still so sweet and beautiful. I want you near me as well, forever. But... I'm married. What are we going to do?" His smile faded. "I love the both of you."

Avar frowned slightly, opening his eyes again to look up at the older man. But before he could reply, before he could get a word out of his mouth, something summoned Willard from outside the room- Vinn was calling for him.

Eventually, the young mans breath returned to him evenly; however, it was accompanied with an odd and somewhat unnerving whistling noise, as if the air just wasn't flowing right within his battered lungs. It was enough, however, to get him up and taking again- he opened his dull green-gray eyes and saw the world in a blur, unsure of what had just happend

Miranda gently placed a hand on his cheek, and said, "Take it easy there, Nick. I think there's a problem with one of your ribs, it could be digging into... or puncturing a lung, possibly. You need to be as still as you can, okay? When I carried you, that rib dug into your lung, cutting off the air. But I need you to stay still, so you won't do any more damage." She brushed his hair from his face and said, "What do you think I should do?"

Vinn was, per usual, at his desk, facing his computer- its was on a peculiar screen, and he was looking at it with spiked interest. As soon as he heard Willards approaching, he waved him over, eager to show him what news he had on their situation. "Hey! Hey, look, I got a hold of some yankee bastard... And uh, hes driving some sort of escape for sane and healthy members of the compound." He murmured. "...I mean, hes going to be taking people like you and your wife, and getting you guys the f*ck out of here." However, for such good news, he seemed reserved.

It took his a while to register what she was saying, what with his head pounding in his ears and his vision blurred by the pulse of it all. but when it finally broke through, what she was trying to say, he nodded slightly and managed the words, "Get me some bandages." They slipped out easy, although he didn't expect them too- it didn't hurt much to talk, yet.

Miranda silently nodded, then looked back. They weren't too far from the city at that point. "I'm going to run back to the outskirts. The guards have first aid supplies and medical equipment. You stay still, and try to get as much air into your lungs as you can, okay?" She stroked his cheek, trying to be comforting in her stiff way, then jumped to her feet and bolted to the outskirts of the city.

"Theres only three spaces." He murmured. "Left. You, Ax and Catalin get a free rise out of here. Everyone left will be fine- the people, they don't realize this is a yank running things."

Nick made out to yell, then thought otherwise, and slowly let himself drift back into a sleep.

Willard bit his lip. "But I can't leave Avar here." His palms began to sweat. "Vinn... I love him." He covered his face, expecting to be scolded.

Less than ten minutes later, Miranda was back, leading a guard along behind her. The guard knelt down and started checking Nick's injuries, then started working on his ribs.

Miranda watched silently, holding one of Nick's hands in her own. She kept her jaw set, her face expressionless.

Vinn felt that he didn't even have to punish Willard. He would be hurting in full soon enough, and he was willing to spare Willard a little mercy. However, he had to remind him of the truth. Slowly, he drew in a breath. "...Avar is lucky to be alive, and won't be that way much longer. Expecially if you go and drag him out into a harsh world hes never known." He shook his head. "You got Catalin and Axie to think about. Place your family first."

Nick pretended to sleep, his body jerking when they hit a spot so sore he couldn't help it- it wss better then keeping his eyes open and having to listen to the girl who couldn't make up her mind, settled right next to him.

That, and he never got along with those military folks from the city. Or anyone.

Miranda didn't say anything, didn't make a sound. She gently set Nick's hand down, and then remained silent for a while longer. Finally, she asked the guard, "Will he be okay?"

The guard said, "Yes, he'll be okay, with some rest."

Miranda nodded slightly, then quietly said to Nick, "How are you feeling?"

"I'll find a way." Willard said, feircly. "Avar has become a part of my family. I'll protect him, like everyone else. I have to. Vinn, when was the last time you set foot in his room? He's healing quickly. And very good, too. He's not the same Avar we got in the beginning."

"Hes putting up a good face, Willard. I check up on him often- your even in the room sometimes, but your to busy watching him sleep to notice. I check his vitals, how hes healing up. And hes not doing as well as he pretends to be. His heart beauts are irregular, his nose bleeds from tears inside his body. Ive watch him blow a bubble of blood while the two of you were sleeping just two nights prior. I don't care what illusion you two are under- Your going with your real family, and Avars staying behind to heal up. And it will be a very long time before that day comes."

"Like an *ss, frankly." Nick muttered, eyes narrowed.

Miranda chuckled, then thanked the guard as he left. Turning her attention back to Nick, she said, "Is there anything you need?" She had taken on her hardened exterior once more, now that he was safely out of harm's way. "But nothing crazy, please."

Willard's heart nearly dropped, and he collapsed onto the floor. He landed on his knees, now sweating all over. "Okay Vinn. O-Okay Vinn." He looked down at the ground, to keep himself from seeing the room spinning around him. He was breathing heavy, but after a quick moment, managed to calm himself down. No help. "I... I need Sora." Was all he said, before he stood up, still a little shakey. He attempted to walk back into the room, and bumped into the wall. He got angry, and started to mumble to himself in Italian.

Vinn pushed himself upwards and grabbed at Willards shoulder, spinning him on his heel roughly and pinning the soft boy up against the wall. He looked him in the eye a long time, as if he had nothing to say, before taking in a deep, inward sigh, and looking him dead in the eye. "...If. If I could get a spot for Avar- And this is only an IF- you would have to promise me, promise that you'll keep him alive. That the spot he would be taking away from someone else wouldn't be in vain, and that when you reach the end, your destination, the kid will be cared after for f*cking life. You seemed to drop Axie quick enough, and I don't want you f*cking around with more people even after this."

"Aww." Nick poted slightly, not wanting to rick a laugh just yet. "And here I was, wantin' some delicious red wine and fine crackers. With the good, aged cheese- you just about ruined the rest of my day, shooting me down like that."

Miranda laughed quietly and said, "I barely have enough to buy crappy crackers. I don't know how I'd be able to afford nice ones, much less wine." She snorted, just joking with him. "Besides, I don't want you getting drunk before our trip to the Rapid. That would probably not go well."

"... Vinn, he's the first person I've had feelings after Axie. I still love Axie... I just... I get these temptations. It's his blood, and then... Then that oh so... Beautiful face." Willard was calming down. "When are they... Coming? The thing that I fear that if I leave him here, he'll... Get hurt again. Not by you, but by some ape. Like I did back when I was younger. Like how I think Catalin did as well. I just... Want to look after him as well. But... If there's not enough time, I... I'm coming to my senses. If there isn't enough time for him to heal more, I don't think... I should risk it." Willard looked away. "I'm an idiot, go ahead. Slap me if you want. You wouldn't understand vampiric urges, Vinn. You got blessed with being born to humans. But if I leave here and he can't come, you have to promise me, like you would make me promise you if he comes with me. Promise me to protect him, and... Promise me him and I would meet again soon. But... I doubt the second part you can keep." He smiled weakly. "I don't want to leave him."

"Aww, what? You don't think I can hold my liqour?" Nick grinned slightly, having . "Have you no faith in me?" he shook his head, before adding- "Ha dI not been mugged, I could have grabbed you a whole wine a cheese platter."

Vinn sighed, eyes heavy. "Look, Willard. Leave him hear, and nothings going to happen to him. Physically. I promise. Can't promise mental stability, but I could sure as hell help him along with that." He glanced at him computer, and back. "Im going to try hard to get him a place with you lot. If he makes it in with you, protect him. And if he doesn't, accept it and move on."
