His bared his teeth. "Its spring, Jade. The cold air is nothing compared to winter months."

He nodded weakly, sniffling.

Jade blinked. "Spring?" She wheezed, falling forward a bit in his arms. "But... it's still cold though. It must be the chill."

He held her up, holding her close. Just a bit. "Your worrying me, Jade."

"I love you too." He whispered, his eyes squeezed shut. "You promise?"

Jade finally found her breath. "I'm fine now, I swear. Croy, don't worry, okay?" She patted the top of his head, then slowly got up. She turned, and cautiously went back to the tent. She tiptoed around Jackson, then layed on the floor of the tent, falling asleep once more.

Croy stood there, alone, in the dark, for some time, however, when he did leave, it was quiet and smooth as shadow.

his voice lingered.

"okay."

"Okay." He whispered. "Okay. I believe you."

That morning, the smell of freshly cooked eggs and meat wafted through the camp, luring the men out of the tents.

Jade was cooking, a blanket wrapped around her. She looked slightly flushed, out of breath. Her hair lacked some of its usual luster. But other than that, she seemed perfectly fine. She whistled happily, letting Toby put some spices and herbs into the food.

Jackson walked out of his tent soon after another of his men, and went to sit beside her, grinning. "Sup?"

"Just cooking," She said, smiling at him. She then started serving the food, making sure everyone had a fairly equal amount in their bowls.

He was already dozing off, but Vinn was waiting on the other side of the bars, as if he wanted to walk to him.
