Tarakotchi Grows Tail?

Can anyone explain why Tarakotchi has this tail? He looks different than other Tarakotchi I have had in the past.

The explanation is that this isn't a Tarakotchi. It's a Kusatchi, and that's not a tail, but rather a plant-pot!

Tarakotchi appears on the Gen 1, and this device is a Gen 2.
