Tamagotchi Mascot CHANGED?!

This is horrific... Because Bandai Japan is making Tamagotchi more for girls, it looks like the mascot is changing from Mametchi to... LOVELITCHI?! I know Mimitchi was once the mascot, but I think the mascot was always meant to be Mametchi--the best care adult on the first Tamagotchi ever made. Lovelitchi's just some modern, newy-dewy character and now she's overtaking Tamagotchi! Those of you who have an iD L will notice how she appears on the packaging and throughout the instruction manual... and just look at the Tamagotchi anime poster for 2012:

...That's ridiculous; Lovelitchi, Melodytchi, and Kizunatchi are all in front of Mametchi, and Memetchi and Kuchipatchi are just specks! I like Lovelitchi--or want to like her--but I am starting to detest her because of how overused she is... Mametchi is way better!

Well, all the mascot characters and main characters are on the 2012 poster, doesn't mean you can't have more than 1 mascot.

Lovelitchi has been slowly taking over since the iD, with Meloditchi slowly behind. Mimitchi was the original best care adult, so I think the mascot should still be Mimitchi, personally.

You kind of have to think of the demographic here: in Japan, bandai thinks that girls are waaaaay more into tamagotchi than boys, and bandai might be using Lovelitchi, who is one of the cuter and girlier characters, to reel more girls in. It's a marketing thing; you take a look at who's buying your products more, boys or girls. Then you want to tailor the marketing and mascots toward the audience, right? So, to bandai, mametchi is not what the girls want, they want Lovelitchi, white, fluffy, dress wearing Lovelitchi.

Personally, I prefer Mimitchi as the mascot. Second, would be the old version mametchi. Because if we're going by who came first, that would be it. Plus the new style mametchi didn't come along until the v3. Lovelitchi is okay, I don't much like her, but I like her a eensy weensy bit more than new Mametchi.

anyway, the Mametchi,Memetchi,Kuchipatchi trio are like tradition to Tamagotchi, its really a surprise to me that they would change that.

I'm trying to "persuade" that all these people are making a big deal out of it, but this is a good thing because we want more Tamagotchi buyers and users. What does it matter anyway? The MASCOT changed? Oh no.

Well, but she's a NEW character--Mametchi's been the mascot far too long for a modern girly one to replace him. What if Pikachu was replaced by a new, girly Pokemon?! Besides, I'm a girl and Mametchi is my favorite character. (I actually hate Lovelitchi, LOL). I'm actually losing interest in the newer Tamagotchi versions and episodes because of Lovelitchi.

Noooooooooooooo.... Mimitchi was not the original best care adult. Mametchi was. Mametchi is from the P1. Mimitchi didn't appear until P2. Lol I'm tired of explaining that to people. XD

That's not what I meant. I'm not sure why I wrote Mimitchi- I meant that it wasn't the new Mametchi, it was the older sprite anyways.

That's kind of going a little overblown, don't you think? Yeah, Lovelitchi's a little too overexposed, but keep in mind: The main trio is still wildely popular, and characters like VIoletchi, Gozarutchi, and Chamametchi still appear on newer versions.

EDIT: also, I remember someone on this topic mentioned Pikachu being the mascot of Pokemon... Not true! He only became popluar after the anime came on. Before that, he was just another character!

If Pikachu was replaced by a new girly Pokemon, then that would be stupid of Pokemon, because they have a larger boy demographic. Yes, I don't like Lovelitchi much either, and yes Mametchi is waay cooler, but that doesn't matter to the ten year old girly-girls who like cute things, now does it? I'm pretty sure Bandai doesn't care if you and a couple others are loosing interest because more girls are probably gaining interest thanks to the cute new mascot. c; Also they probably didn't think people would actually make a big deal out of it.

That's not to say I would personally rather see Lovelitchi as a mascot, I like Mametchi faaar better.

Not all kids are like that - I'm 10 and I DEFINITELY prefer Mametchi or Mimitchi.

Here's how I see it; it doesn't really matter about who Bandai chooses to be the face for Tamagotchi; we all have our own ideas of who the front-running characters are. For some it might be Mametchi, for others it may be Mimitchi. In the end, all Tamagotchi characters are Tamagotchis, and they are equally important in the Tamagotchi brand. Even if a character was only featured on a single Tamagotchi, they still have the same relevance as other characters, such as Mametchi, in my opinion. While the Anime might not be their chance to shine, or even their respective release that they were included on, they are still a relevant character in their own right, otherwise they would have never been created!

Take a character such as Kaerutchi and a character such as Kuchipatchi for example. 99% of people would say that Kuchipatchi is the more dominant, or "better" character. But let's look at this for a minute. How many releases can you obtain Kuchipatchi on? I could name at least ten, off the top of my head. But Kaerutchi? He only appears on one. That makes him a lot rarer than Kuchipatchi, and a LOT more difficult to obtain. That's something, isn't it?

I know I'm kind of going a bit off topic, but I guess what I'm trying to say is yes, the face of Tamagotchi is changing from characters such as Mimitchi, Mametchi, Memetchi and Kuchipatchi to the girly characters such as Lovelitchi, Meloditchi, Moriritchi and Himespetchi, but why should that affect us? Just because Bandai chooses to let them be the "main" characters doesn't mean that we have to agree with it.
