The oldest siren began the story:
"Many years ago, we lived in Greece, in warm, sunny islands. We had given up our ways of violence, for fear we would be persecuted. However, there was one more of us. Lucrecia. By far, she was the prettiest, and she was our soprano."
The second siren continued:
"She was flighty and wild, but she was always kind, and always very gentle. One day, a man from Italy stumbled in upon us. He was pale of face, but his hair was black as midnight, his eyes were like drops of bronze speckled with blood."
The third siren chimed in:
"Lucrecia became infatuated with him. Every day, she would go and meet him, when she thought we didn't know. They would laugh, and talk, and perform the acts that lovers inevitably do. And as Lucrecia and this man became close, she distanced herself from us."
The youngest added:
"One night, when the moon was full, some sisxteen years ago, she came to us and said, "Have you ever wondered if there is more to the world?" Then she made a speech about the world. We all thought she was drunk or something. We all slept, not thinking much about it. The next day... She was gone. And the young man too. She was our sister, and we cared for her in every way. That man stole her from us."
They all sighed sadly, remembering their friend.
"We did not look for another like us. Nobody can replace her. We still sing our favorite songs, we just don't have the piece that puts it together."
Aviance was nearly in tears. "That's so sad..." She said.
