How much has the Tamagotchi changed from 1996 to the present year?

It seems that Bandai made it lot more sophisticated than I thought. It went from this:

Is it just me or is Bandai getting more into the Tamagotchi project?

Well yes, times change and things change with them

The original P1 had no connection, no shop, only one game, no date place, no Gotchi Points, and a handful of characters.

Tamagotchi Friends has bump technology, beautiful detailed sprites, different shops, really fun games, and lots of fantastic characters

I can't wait to see what future English releases are produced!

I'm hoping they release a color Tamagotchi soon...much like the +Color, iD-L, P's, but with more characters to use.
