I took my broken CD player into the store I got it from, with the recipt. They're not given me a replacement, money-back, or even an apoligy. That's the staff policy, and they're not following it. How is that fair?

P.S. 'They' are the staff at Tesco. Soz, people for the incorrect use of Pro-nouns

Call the manager. I had a webkin on hold once, and they put it back on sale. So my mom called the manager and I got a free webkin!

It is also normal store policy at Tesco to provide an explanation as to why they will not give you a refund.... but you haven't mentioned that ....

I am assuming that there was a reason they couldn't replace / refund it... how exactly did your CD player get broken in the first place?

Maybe ask to speak to the manager like you guys were saying. And point out that it is their policy to give refunds and stuff. How did your CD player break anywayz?

Did you break it or did it come broken? Also, how long have you had it? Usually if something is past a certain amount of days you can't return it. They also wont replace something you broke. It's not their problem.

I had it for 2 days. And it was a faulty one. You know the ones where it's made with a problem, by accident. But this has never happened before at the store. It's so unlike them........ and no explaination, cause I went back. I don't think this is fair. :furawatchi:  :D

Did you speak with a manager or just a sales associate?

If it was just an associate, you might try to go back and talk to a manager instead. They *should* give an explanation as to why they can't take it back.

I want to contact the manager, but they won't let m. One of them keeps saying 'Go away, I'll call the cops' :kuribotchi: -_- :hitodetchi:

Okay, easy. Take a friend in with you, or family, and ask to see the manager. Now, if they refuse to let you see the manager, tell them this.

'If you do not bring the manager here right now, I will call up the better business bureau and have this store invetigated for you all violating your own policies. So, unless you want to lose your job and get taken to court, bring me the manager right now.'

You see, the Better Business Bureau specializes in cases like this, in which employees and managers start violating rules and laws for retail. If they will not refund faulty items in the timespawn of their own warranty, the store CAN be shut down by the BBB. In fact, the BBB is capable of taking any employees or managers, or both, that violate policies to court. So, just remember about the BBB, since if Tesco doesn't follow their own policies, just leave. Call up the BBB, where you and your witness, friend or family, can report what happened.

All it takes is one complaint to the BBB, and you could get Tesco's workers in a LOT of trouble. Trouble they brought on themselves.

They can't do that! You haven't done anything wrong, but they have. I do believe there's a law somewhere that says that they need to refund/replace faulty goods...

I'll try telling them that I'll call the BBB then. Thanks. Maybe that'll work.........

Not really a law, but there IS the Better Business Bureau, who specializes in these types of cases. If the store will not cover a warranty, when their own POLICY says they MUST, call up the BBB. They can do any of the following...

Shut the store in question down, thus putting all the employees out of work.

Override management and start firing the offenders.

Get the offenders arrested.

Just remember about the Better Business Bureau, especially if a company will not cooperate or follow their own rules. Just tell them, simply, that if they do not cover their own warranty, the Better Business Bureau will get involved and they will put everyone their out of a job. You WILL call them if they don't get the manager. And also remind them that the BBB can also have them taken to court and arrested should the BBB feel like it.

EVERY company in America is bound by the BBB. Remember that.

Would have been handy to know...

Well, there might be something like the BBB where you are from. I would suggest doing a check at the governmental sites for your country. You might find something.

Wait....... There is!!!!!!! I'm going with my friend now, it's only round the corner. I'll give you news when I come back.

Best of luck!

Back. Still no replacement, but an apoligy for offending us.

If you are going to Tesco you might be advised to take a parent along. Grown ups tend to add a bit more "weight" to a complaint than a friend might do.

Keep it polite and firm. Don't start shouting and causing a scene - it doesn't make you look good and gives the store an opportunity to suggest that you are a "trouble maker" and they would be within their rights to call the Security staff to have you removed from the store.

If you can't speak with the manager (or they won't let you), you could ask them for the "Customer Care" line - or the Head Office details so that you can "take your complaint further".

That might work too :chohimetchi:
