The number like the 36 in this case is the measurement around the body. The letter or cup size indicates how big the breasts are. I was B forever up until college then I went up to a C.
I was an A for a while and am now a C, but will probably shrink down once I manage to lose weight. >.<

As said, the number is the measurement around the ribs, the cup size is the actual breast size. A way to tell what cup size you are (if you don't feel comfortable having yourself measured in Victoria's Secret or somewhere) is this:

Measure around your body/ribs. Then measure around your body going around the fullest part of your breasts. (Obviously, the number should be bigger).

If the difference between the two numbers is 1, you're an A. 2 is a B, and so on.

So, for a better example...

My ribs are 36 inches. Measure around my breasts is about 39 1/2. So, the difference being 3 1/2 inches, I'm a full C (almost a small D).

But this is waaaaay off topic.

K, this should be in the "do you wear a bra" topic... seriously- look at teh last 2 posts
Cup size is just about puberty as the period is. It's a tad off base, but it won't kill anyway. Back to the menstral cycle all!

I have a personalish question I would like to ask-- But not in public...

Can I PM someone?

Mimitchiz, you can PM me if you'd like. :)

If it matters to anyones, I have my period now. It actually was a day late because of a terrible cold, which freaked me out a bit. Ever since last year when I got pregnant I'm always worried about being late (even though I have an IUD with only a 0.6% fail rate, ha ha ha).

I know before we talked about wearing tampons at night, which I'm thinking of trying, but I'm worried about if I sleep more than 8 hours. I normally wake up during the night to use the restroom anyway, but if I don't then that's not good--I don't want to leave it in too long, y'know?

Any thoughts? I am trying to wean myself off of pads as they are really icky, LOL.

I haven't had my period yet but I have had this really big pain in my tummy. Is that apart of pubuty?

Blargimded: You are actually kidding aren't you...!?

Zeogotchi: It depends what type of pain you are having, and where it hurts. if it's in your stomach then it's not a part of puberty, it's just a stomach cramp. if it's lower down, about where your belt buckle would sit, it might be. But seeing as you haven't had your period yet, I'm not too sure.

I still have not had my period yet, and its getting quite frustrating. In sex ed at school, they showed us diagrams of how your body should look around the beginning on menstruation, and my body's pretty much up to where I should be getting my period.

Mskitty89, with the measurement thingy, I don't believe that's right. Because I just tried it, and it said I was a B cup, and I am definitely NOT a B cup. I'm 4 months away from being 12, for pity's sake! Anyway, I know I'm not a B, because I only just fill an A. Sorry Mskitty, but unless I didn't do it right, your method for finding out cup size doesn't work.

Then you didn't do it right. :)

Well, they say to measure above (I think the measurement won't be off too much, honestly), but here it is with pictures.

I understand, I get concerned when wearing pads, too. I normally only do them at night, but my IUD makes me bleed a little heavier the first couple days and then I'm fine after that, so I tend to stick to pads the first few days.

I've never used more than regular tampons, but honestly I could probably stand to use "super" the first two days... I just don't want to get something too absorbent and risk TSS... So, even after all these years, even I am still working things out. :p

They keep coming out with new products, which some I like and some I don't, so it gets confusing. Playtex, the tampons that open more around instead of mainly width-wise, I like those. :)

Pads are disgusting ^.^'

As for sleeping more than 8 hours with a tampon in.

When I had periods I would sleep with them in, usually about 12 hours.

I've never had any problems with them.

The reason I did this was because my periods were so heavy that I couldn't wear pads to sleep. Even the huge ones because they'd either leak or drip off onto my underwear/pajamas/sheets. I'd always have a tampon in and a pad to be safe.

Because I've always worn tampons to sleep, I in a way don't believe in TSS. I know it's a real thing, but if I can go years with wearing tampons for 12+ hours at a time and not have any problems, I doubt other people will.

Yes, they are, but I just didn't know what to do because I have that problem of dripping onto my pajamas or sheets and I thought if the pad wasn't cutting it, should I really trust a little tampon?

Knowing that you wear yours for so long (I sleep normally 9 or 10 hours lately, maybe a little longer if I'm really beat)... That's reassuring. ;)

Thanks for all the information! :p
