Congratulations on getting your first period! :D

I am a little confused though... if you got huge cramps, you should know that generally they tend to hurt quite a bit! :p Cramps are usually very painful... if you aren't feeling pain then what you are probably experiencing is the general bloated, swollen feeling that many women get in their lower abdomen during menstruation.

Cramps also vary in severity, some are quite severe, others are a dull ache and a some lucky few don't experience them at all! ;) It is a very individual thing! If having cramps are likely to make you even more cranky then you can always use some painkillers to fix the problem!

Crankiness is not something you can do much about other than be aware of it. If you are aware that you are in a not-so-nice mood then steer clear of others until you are feeling better. If you are in a situation where you are forced to deal with other people then just be aware of it and try exercise some tolerance. You need to learn to be in control of it.

seriously!? can you still have kids? i did not know that you can get them twisted...(wow, now this is my most scary medical fear, instead of stomach ulsers!) how can you twist an overy? does it hurt when it happens?
Yeah! It hurt like HECK!!!!!!!

And yes I can still have kids unless I go and get the other one twisted or something. :D

The doctors really dont know what I did to twist it. It might have been gymnastics....

But I still do gymnastics. I love it!

if i twisted an ovary in gymnastics (which i did not. i went to gymnastics for 9 years and my ovaries are still in tact...) i wouldn't go to gymnastics anymore. i would be too afraid to. how old are you?

Just wondering.. My last period was back on the 17th of December? Why hasn't it come to say hello in 7 weeks? Is it normal to have it quite so irregular when you first get it?
Definately normal... I had a friend in high school who used menstruate only three times a year for quite a while! Some girls will only have her period every second month! But irregularity is definately normal. Most of the sources I have basically say that it takes around three years for the body to iron itself out and get some form of regularity in there. In the meantime, just enjoy the absences. ;)

My Periods Are Irregular. Is There Something Wrong With Me?? - Some basic supporting information. :D

Hmm, I've had armpit hair for well over a month, and my breast size is... I guess you could say large... I have been moody quite often, too. But still no period. :D Any reason why?
Puberty Stages of Development in Females is a more comprehensive chart and is based on averages rather than one person's experience. :p

Have a look there and see where you are up to...

Remember that the onset of menstruation is controlled by a number of factors other than your breast size and presence of pubic hair and it doesn't always turn up in the expected order. ;)

You should not be concerned until you have reached 18 years and find yourself period free.

*crying* YA I KNOW!!!!!!!! I HAVE THEM RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
twisted ovaries? really? what's it feel like? (...maybe that's what happened to me 2 years ago, but they couldn't find out what it was because i didn't have a pap smear! eeeeeeh...)

I am 11.

Oops sorry, worng quote xD

I felt like I was dying it hurt so bad!

The scar is huge!

The doctors didnt even know what was wrong with me.

Of corse. They are men. Then a woman stepped in and figured out what was wrong. And she did the surgery. It figures. :D

I posted this in my own topic but people are ignoring me there so I will post it here as it is related to growing up ut I know it's not just mood swings.

I just read an article on bipolar disease and I have every one of the listed syptoms!!!!!!! I think my parents will not believe me if I tell them because I'm normally in the middle of a swing when I get home meaning I am neither really happy nor really sad. (The swings just go that way I guess...) I need help and probably need a phsychiatrist...

I am afraid of what my parents will say so I don't know what to do! I can't ask them but who can I ask? I need help and soon!!!!!!

Ninny308,

As I said in your personal topic, your school should have a school counsellor. Make an appointment and go visit them. They will be able to assess whether your are suffering BPD or whether you are just suffering an exacerbation of being a teenager. As a teenager all the hormones get out of whack and in one day you can find yourself going from extreme to extreme low quickly and many times during the day.

However, as I said, if you are seriously concerned, make contact with the school counsellor and they will assess you and arrange for you to be treated by a doctor/psychiatrist and have the necessary support.

I don't generally like to link off to Wikipedia but the information on this one is pretty good: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bipolar_disorder
