Frozen 4U (urgent)

Hello, I hope that someone might be able to help:
I just bought a 4u on ebay. As I was trying to test it I noticed that after just a few seconds (about 30) the whole tama froze. No reaction to the buttons, no screen change. As I pushed reset it only restarted this loop. I can't even figure out how to use the symbols because it immidiately went to freeze up. At one try the screen was even colorfully mangled until reset. The battery contacts were corroded but I cleaned them thoroughly and they seemed to be the only issue. Opening the Tamagotchi and looking inside didn't indicate anything else broken or corroded so I am really at a loss. The seller doesn't respond and I am really upset (I paid 100 €).

I hope someone reads this soon and maybe has an idea what I could do

This thread is a few days old, I'm just curious if you managed to fix it? I have a 4U too and I encountered the same frozen and mangled screen issue the other week after leaving the Tamagotchi without batteries and untouched for a few weeks. I just took out the batteries and replaced them and it fixed itself.

I don't really know what did it but I got it fixed. I reset it a couple of times, took the batteries out and let it sit. Then as I tried again it suddenly was working again. I assume it was a programming bug since it had an old english patch. But it is working like a charm now. Waiting for the device with app compatibility so I can patch it up with the new patch

The buttons weren't the mistake, as it was acting up the buttons worked until the freeze of the screen. I suppose it was a bug caused by the old english patch
