I jumped into an Id first< simply because i actually found one new for 60< on ebay now they average about 80 plus shipping 
and like old school tama said you will get use to it but it definitely took me a couple days to catch on to it, but once understood very easy and very enjoyable< i highly recommend it< have yet to try the color but so far the id has been amazing< so much fun, been over a week and i have not gotten bored even the slightest on it. Now i see mixed reviews on the Hexagotchi, and im curious what people think, is it totally impossible to figure out if you dont speak Japanese? Ive been dying to buy one but everyone's kinda saying stay away stay away. ill get one anyway to keep in the box but curious

I bought a tamagotchi+ color back around july 2nd for my birthday I love it and now am ready for an ID but gong to have to wait till I have the money.
