Hiya,

Omg! It's another one of my environment topics what a surprise!

*Pokes signature* But this time It's not global warming... It's animals.

Not animal abuse though.

I saw this video: Do You Really Want To Eat That Fish?

And got most of the information for my signature from it.

[NOTE: Some photos in this video are a bit bloody and graphic.]

It kind of made me realise that our animals are dying, mainly our ocean animals. I don't want to bore you to death about how I think we shouldn't eat fish anymore... I just wanted to say that it's sad that we as people have the power to do something about this but we don't.

The information in my signature is totally, completely and absolutely true. The link in my signature, Futuremakers, is a website I got from my friend Miffiy.

Well, Hopefully you read that boring post and thanks if you did.

0_0 I dont like sharks but I dont want them to die

I feel good now because I dont eat fish  But I still think that people should stop polluting the water

Uh oh...here comes a wildlife warrior.....xD

While I think fish are a good natural food source for many cultures around the world...I think fishing laws and practices need to be geared toward conservation of species and MUCH more humane treatment of animals. For the fish themselves...they are just going to be eaten, this is true. But, I often don't watch fishing shows because it bothers me how roughly they are handled. Those fish are incredible survivors, and I think they deserve humane treatment just as many other animals are given. Some cultures are sustained almost exclusively by these creatures, and I think we need to recognize that and give back to them a little by keeping their oceans cleaner and their natural habitats intact.

As far as the slaughter of sharks, sea turtles, dolphins, etc, it is horrendous. I think that anyone who wants to eat Shark Fin Soup or turtle meat dishes should first have to be informed of exactly how their luxury meal was procured. I don't understand how anyone who has watched the videos I've seen of their butchery methods would be undisturbed. Some popular methods:

*Sharks are brought up onto the ship deck and, while still alive, all of their fins are sawed off with a knife. They are then thrown back into the sea where they writhe around as they fall to the sea floor, where they drown.

*Sea turtles are lifted onboard and flipped onto their backs. The "fishermen" use saw like knives to begin cutting the turtles flesh out of it's shell...while it is struggling to try to escape. The turtle eventually dies of blood loss and shock.

*In Japan, thedolphin run used to be a popular yearly event. Hundreds of dolphins are driven up onto the beaches and they lay in the hot sun in masses. Men come around and slit their throats in attempt to kill them. The dolphins scream and shed tears when this happens. Luckily, there are movements being made to change this. Many of these people are former dolphin "fishermen" who were disturbed by the dolphins' human-like reactions.

I've seen this with my own eyes, this stuff happens for the most part, everyday. I know the world will never be a perfect, kind place for wildlife. That would be unrealistic. But, the heartless slaughter of animals...especially for non-necessary delicacy dishes that keep no one alive...needs to be dramatically reduced.

It's hard to get things to change in the world, but one of the greatest things about conservation is the fact that individuals CAN make a huge difference. Individual people have brought about great changes in and to the animal world. The best, and most basic thing you can do now, is to educate other people about these things. I'm not talking about ranting, raving, dramatic PETA people...they are an ineffective embarassment to genuinely conservation-minded people. xD I live by my signature and I use it everywhere I go, when the opportunity and the need arises. It can really change minds and save lives, so stick with what you believe in, put the idea across to others tactfully, and you're making a difference. :D

Thanks Aubrey Hepburn and Bubba28.

Aubrey Hepburn, the third paragrapg of your post was quite sickening and disturbing for me o_O But I really think it kind of educated me more about what is happening to the animals.

Er... I don't really know what to say...

Fish in the sea are going to be eaten anyway, but killing other sea creatures, I think is wrong...
