no, it can't change back to generation 2. you are already on gen. 16

Press the Reset button on the back of the Tamagotchi, then select Reset (not Download). This will take you back to generation 1. If you take good care of it, it should then be generation 2 in a little over a week.

[Edit: Note that by doing this you will lose all your items, points, souvenirs, and information in your friends list and family list.]

Binary is right.

The only way you can get it back to Generation 2 if is you start all over again from Generation 1. But why would you want to do that? Seems kind of pointless..

You gotta reset and make sure you keep your Tama alive to go to gen 2
