L shifted in his seat again, dropping his hands from Sakura's shoulders and pulling away. "So that's what happens," he said, pushing his thumb to his lip.
L span around in his chair, facing the screens, and rested his chin on his knees again. "We need to plan the surveillence carefully. We need to make sure Ligt believes that the suspects he gave us have been left alone."
Sakura nodded and continued to look over the screens. "Yeah, if we convince Light that the suspects he gave us are off-camera, we could catch him really slipping up."
"If he's Kira, he may try to use of of these suspects as a successor," L said, chewing his thumb. "I said that Kira wouldn't be stupid enough to use one of these, so he might think that it's safe and go forward."
Sakura was still a bit dazed from the kiss and L's confession. Snapping out of the trance she had seemingly been in, she glanced over at L. "If Light is Kira.... This definitely puts him in a very tight spot."
"If he uses one of these, then we've caught him," L said, glanicng at Sakura. "If not, then he has to look harder for a successor that won't be as good." He turned to face Sakura again lifting his head.
Sakura nodded, turning to face L as well. "If Light uses one of these people for a successor, it's almost as though he's just walking right up to us and confessing..."
Sakura placed a hand on L's head and shuffled his hair. "Aw, come on... I'd be right there with you." She leaned down a bit so she was eye level with him. "You'd be fine."
