I never asked, but I got a dog for my fifth birthday, we got him about a week or two after it..

Just ask for any kind of dog! Buy one from the animal shelter! There are MILLIONS of dogs in animal shelters, who cost hardly any money! They need a home more than those "Kennel Club Champs"!
