Er, it doesn't have to be a full day for it to turn golden. After burying the shovel, you wait until after 6 AM the next day.

At least that's what I looked up on an FAQ.

First, buy two shovels.Then dig a hole with one, and bury the other one inside.  Return after 6am the

next day to dig up the golden shovel.

^Proof that there's no need to wait for a full 24 hrs.^

oooh right sorry lol, my mistake . I have no idea why I assumed it had to be gold. I think I read gold shovel and hit rocks together and made it up. :furawatchi:
