Tamagotchi Music Star screen keeps going blank..

I'm trying to reboot an old Music Star v6 tamagotchi but it seems to be having some issues

Everytime I insert a battery, the screen would turn on but eventually it would go blank

I tried it with different batteries, with an old battery the screen started flickering with lines and it slowly faded to blank

When I tried it with a newer battery, the screen stayed on but it only lasted for a few seconds before it went blank again

Oddly enough after removing one of the batteries, I pressed one of the buttons and it made a faint beep noise which was weird considering there was no battery in the tama.. help??

damn thats a shame esp for a v6.. heres a few things you can check:
do you have another tama to test those batteries in? just to double check theyre not the problem
are both of the battery contacts in the tamagotchi clean?
does the reset button do anything after putting a new battery in?
are the screws holding the shell halves together done up fully? (if theyre loose it can cause bad connection between the lcd and pcb)

Yes I tried testing the battery on another tama and it still works fine
I also tried cleaning the battery compartment with isopropyl alcohol
It seems to be screwed on pretty tightly, I never disassembled this tamagotchi before nor have I dropped it..
I haven't tried pressing the reset button yet, I just assumed the screen would eventually turn blank again if I did

Just an update; i tried pressing the reset button after inserting working batteries and true enough the screen turned on but went blank after 10 seconds..
Also noted that horizontal lines started flickering on the screen before everything went blank

Does anyone know the cause for this phenomenon?

maybe bad screen connection? does pressing the shell halves tighter together make a difference?
