Damien thought how he could explain it. "It's not that different. When you get hungry, just go out into town, find someone you feel comfortable feeding on, grab them and bring your mouth to their neck. Your fangs should go into their neck naturally, it's a reflex for vampires. Put on some sunscreen whenever it's a sunny day, the sun can really irritate your skin. Other than that, just be low key about it."

Faylinn flinched slightly at Damien's words, but managed to nod. "O-okay. Thanks..." She gave a small smile, before closing the door.

Ember was standing some distance behind Damien, and when Faylinn had gone he spoke up. "You know, the council's gonna come down on you pretty hard for this."

"You really think I give a **** about the council? I've broken all but two of their rules, and the two I've broken is because I don't want to, not that I'm afraid of them." Damien told Ember.

"Hey, I'm not scared of them either. Why do you think I'm friends with Faylinn?" A pause. "All but two? How the heck are you still alive?"

Damien didn't answer that question. He just looked at Ember, a small frown. "I just am..." he said quietly.

"Oh, don't tell me you're murdering the people that come after you." Ember laughed harshly. "That really takes the cake."

"Murdering isn't really the correct term. I would say more like protecting myself." Damien explained. "So what makes you take an interest in this girl anyway?"

"She's my friend." Ember said bluntly. "What makes you take an interest in this girl?"

"I don't..." Damien said quickly, although he was lying. "I just need to protect her so I don't get hurt."

"Really. So it's all for your own good." Ember said, raising an eyebrow. "She'll get on fine without you. She's got me."

"Well..." Damien didn't know what to say. How he'd hoped that maybe, just maybe he could actually get a friend. "I did this to her, so it's my responsibility to protect her."

Ember still wasn't content to leave it, taking a step forwards and narrowing his eyes. "If I even suspect you're trying to make some bizarre claim on her - make her your freaking companion or whatever - I will personally end you. You got that?"

"What do you mean? I told you why I'm doing this, no other reason." Damien lied again, but he was afraid to admit the truth.

"Okay. Prove it. Long distance relationship." Ember said. "You told her how to be a vampire, your work is done I guess. It's not like she's gonna get into danger."

Damien had no comeback, nothing he could say. Ember had won. He looked down, rage slowly building up inside him. He was never going to be able to help anyone, no one wanted him near them. Damien's hand turned into a fist, and he tried to punch Ember as hard as he can.

The punch caught Ember square in the face, and he staggered backwards, rubbing his jaw. "Oh, you are going to regret that." He growled, before throwing powers out of the window and tackling Damien.

Damien had to protect himself, or else Faylinn would get hurt. He ignored the tackle and tried to make it so his fall to the ground wasn't painful. Quickly pushing Ember off him, he had to protect himself to protect Faylinn.

Ember wasn't having any of that, and rolled back on top of Damien to pin him to the ground. "I don't think so." He growled, before lifting Damien up and slamming his head off the ground. Twice.

Faylinn was sat upstairs in her bedroom, on her laptop when suddenly pain seared through her head. And again. "Oh god..."

Damien held Ember back after, the pain in his head killing him. "Listen, stop this. Faylinn is going to get hurt too."

"Right, yeah." Ember said, driving his fist into Damien's stomach a few times - before stopped when he heard a scream come from Faylinn's house. "...Oh, &£@"&." He muttered under his breath.
