Christien gave her a jokingly pitiful look. He said, "Do I really have to?" and sighed dramatically. "Okay, fine. Is there anything you can't, won't or don't eat?"
"No, I'll eat anything." Elaina chirped back, absent-mindedly drumming her fingers on the table, her right foot tapping along to the beat while she waiting for Christien's choice.
Christien pursed his lips thoughtfully as he scanned the menu for something to eat. He finally settled on getting two different things, so that they could try each other's. A French specialty pasta dish and a fish dish as well. Finally, he asked her, "Okay, and what to drink?"
"I'll have whatever you're having." Elaina smiled mischeviously, "I'm leaving everything up to you, dear." She set down her menu to the side therefore it was out of the way.
Rolling his eyes playfully, Christien called over a waiter and ordered their food. He spoke quickly when he spoke French, though it seemes normal for them. English was just a lot slower in comparison. A few minutes later, two bacardi mojitos arrived at their table and Christien took a sip. He smiled slightly, knowing full well that the drinking age in America was 21 while it was just 18 in Europe.
"Oh my!" Elaina exclaimed upon seeing their alchoholic drinks, eagerly picking hers up and taking a hesitant, experimental sip. "This is delicious! Another reason why I love France! That's it. I'm moving here." She said with a laugh, taking a now larger gulp, "mhm"ing in delight.
Christien laughed and said, "I admit, I missed having a beer or something. In France, we're always given drinks at dinner parties even when we're young children. It's part of our society." He sipped at his again and smiled, then taking in the view that they had from here, and then at Elaina. At that moment in time, everything just felt so completely perfect, and he smiled to himself.
Elaina excidedly finished her drink before turning to Christien, pursing her lips and studying his expression. "And what are you grinning about?" She asked in a playfully serious tone.
Christien set his drink down and looked again at Elaina. "Oh," he began, sort of dazed at first, having been so thoughtful. He said, "Just at how perfect everything is right now. This amazing restaurant, a gorgeous evening, a great view. And then I look at you. And you just take my breath away."
Elaina bit her bottom lip, flushed by his compliment. "I agree, completely. I never want to leave this moment." She let out a great sigh, leaning back in her chair, "This two weeks are going to go way too fast."
"Whatever you like. We can relax or I can take you shopping or if there's anything you've heard of that you'd like to see, I'll take you there," Christien suggested.
"Everything sounds great. I'll leave all the decisions up to you. So, when you come visit me in America, I can make all the plans." She grinned, "That'd way it'd be fair! Does plan making sound good to you?"
"Okay. I hate deciding. But that's fair, so I'll agree to it. I'll give it some thought and let you know what we'll do tomorrow when I know," Christien nodded. He took another sip of his drink and then leaned over the table to give Elaina a quick kiss on the lips. Shortly afterwards, their food arrived.
Elaina, completely starved, quickly ate her share of the food, especially liking the pasta. "Oh my gosh! I've missed actual food so much!" She exclaimed, wiping the corners of her mouth on her napkin.
Christien ate his a little more slowly than she did, though that wasn't to say that he wasn't as hungry. He definitely was starving, and he'd craved something with more taste and energy than a coconut for so long. Eating here also reminded him of just how amazing the food was, and it tasted better than it ever had done.
Elaina, finished with her meal, turned to look at the Eiffel tower, almost with an entranced expression. "I wish I had a camera." She said, more to herself than to Christien.
Christien finished off his food and then pushed his plate aside a little. He said, having heard her, though not totally sure if she had bee speaking to him, "I can borrow one from one of these guys for the trip, if you want." When a waiter came, he was pleased to see that it was one of his good friends and so he quietly asked him if he had a camera they could borrow. After having taken their plates away, he returned with one from his bag and handed it to Christien, with whom he also had a quick catch up conversation before leaving them to it.
Elaina reached over to carefully take the camera, immediately taking some shots of the Eiffel tower; cooeing as she viewed the outcome. "Thank you," she said to Christien, grinning almost childishly. "This has been so perfect and it's only the first day!"
