Useful information for users of Seriously RP

• Please be literate. ('literate' does not just mean you can read. 'literate' means you can communicate clearly in your posts wthout tlkin liek dis.)
  
• Proper grammar, spelling and punctuation are a must.
  
• No Mary Sues, Gary Stus or Kawaiis ('perfect' characters). If you're not sure what one is or if you have one on your hands, a litmus test is a good way to check.
  
• No attention seeking characters such as characters that are all hyperactive and run up to other people's characters and talk to them even though they are complete strangers to the character, and characters that do things such as faint and trip a lot.
  
• No godmodding or drastic plot changing (taking control of other people's characters/using your character to alter the plot in such a way that's it's completely different or centered around your character).
  
• Forms have to be approved by the creator(s) of the RP before you can begin.
  
• Use lengthy, descriptive forms that give a good idea of the character (do not just use one-liners like 'blonde hair blue eyes' for appearance or having 'shy and clumsy' for personality). Pictures are allowed for descriptions (but no anime as it's pretty unrealistic to have your silky smooth pink hair about 10 feet high in spikes that could take someone's eye out).
  
• Quality posts please! No one liners, post at least 4-5 sentences of decent length and quality. Also, no script format (such as "Emma: okay sure let's do that *giggles* *walks off*")
  
• Please let everyone in that specific RP know if you are going to be absent for a long period of time or if you plan on quitting the roleplay.
  
• If you are roleplaying a previously made character (film, comics, books, etc), please do not change their personality/appearance/etc. They have set characteristics and it can irritate other roleplayers if you change a canon (already made) character.
  
• Do not join a roleplay if you do not plan to be active in it. In other words, do not bother to apply to an RP if you aren't planning on actually RPing in it.
  
• As always, all TamaTalk rules still apply.
  

• Is the person literate?
  
• Can the person follow the RP creator's rules properly?
  
• Is the person an experienced RPer? Have they RPed before? How many RPs on Tamatalk have they actively participated in? Do they RP on another site?
  
• Is the person's character staying true to what was written down in their form? This is important! This is basically seeing whether the person can play a character without letting it become a kawaii.
  
• Does the person follow most general RP rules and understand plots of RPs to the point where they follow plots correctly?

BUT, if you are doubtful about whether you can post grammatically correct replies with more substance than one or two lines and develop a comprehensive character description or story line that follows the RP form provided by the topic starter, then I would suggest you use the Seriously RP forum area only to watch and learn.

Look at the way they post, look at the sentence structures, the spelling, the style, the language, etc. and work on developing your own style and use it in the General RP forums.

If you do this, people will be able to see that you are capable of mature RP posting and may be more willing to allow you to join - especially if you can point to RPs and posts in the General RP forum as proof of your capability.

The fact is, that everyone was new to RP once. Over time everyone learns to develop their style, improve their spelling and grammar and gain more experience. It seems to me that the less experienced RPers are going to get a good opportunity to see what other members consider to be experienced RP and perhaps even be offered some friendly, constructive criticism (if they are willing to take it on board without getting offended)
