Will it change?

I am quite new to tamagotchi. I got a Tamagotchi Connection for Christmas and I always get the same charecter! It looks like this: A circle with a beak 2 little eyes but one is higher than the other and 3 little spikes on its head. I think its called an Onionchi or something but Im not sure. I really want a new charecter and was wondering if my current charecter with turn into a new one after a while. If so, how long? Thanks!

oh, yes! the one you have is a teen, and it will turn to an adult at 4 years old (if you did'nt pause it, If you did it will take longer)
