That's pretty unique fake - I've never seen one like it. Mostly because it appears to be older - it's copying a gen 1 as opposed to making claims of "SUPER SONIC FAMOUS CONECTION CAPABILITIES v8."

Nah, not a fake, I saw these at my school too, their just little miniature replicas of a Tama, when I saw it the first time I just though it was some new Tama design, but, hey who knows? Maybe it is...

The placement of the Reset button is a really bad design.

No screen icons. How do you select which action you're performing - an onscreen menu like the Tamagotchi Mini?

What's the red part near the top - is it really an infrared port for connecting to others of its kind, or just some misleading decoration?

The fakes get more interesting and interesting. If you are enjoying it, you can go ahead and keep it. I ordered a fake tama once, and threw it away.

The character looks like the baby boy for most regular non-fake tamagotchis. That looks kind of like one of the Tamagotchi Ancestors..
