I don't remember much either. XD It was either the end of junior year or beginning of senior year in high school. I think I'd heard about this new Tamagotchi craze through a newspaper article or news report. When my mom and I went to Kohl's, I was the lucky one and got one of the only two left (a white one, which my friend on IRC said is apparently rare).
The other two Gen 1s I got were from my grandma. She had bought one each for my cousins and me, but didn't "trust" the youngest, and gave hers to me instead. XD;
All three of those Gen 1s went with me on my trip to New York and Broadway. I even took care of them before the shows and during intermissions. Heh heh.
I REALLY don't remember how I got my Gen 2 or where. ^^;
