Mostly use linux for browsing the internet's when I'm on an actual computer . Mine is linux lite, second release but I don't remember what it was called lol. I also run ubuntu's latest release and opensuse with the amazing KDE desktop... It's gorgeous on my desktop. Mint has always given me issues! Xfce is nice, but cinnamon desktop is so pretty !

I forgot to mention I dual boot on all nu computers except the one with linux lite. It's an oldie and can only handle so much. Oddly it's the one I most use. My other oses are windows 7 and 8.

I do have a REALLY old desktop with puppy linux but it's not really applicable haha.

Do you dual boot as well? It's cool there's another penguin lover here !

I would dual boot if my laptop was younger and stronger, but as it is, my computer is 7 years old and came with Windows Vista (which I had to completely remove in order to get my laptop to work reliably). I don't think my computer would be able to handle Windows 7, unfortunately.

I've tried Ubuntu and Xubuntu as well, but so far I prefer Mint as an operating system.

Mint is great, ubuntu is a bit far from the windows-esque experience and frankly the first linux distro i migrated to was mint! it was lovely :3

yeah exactly why i moved to linux was to resuscitate dying old laptops ! how long have you been running mint? that is very cool you use linux :D i'm a huge linux nerd lol so seeing someone else who loves it too makes me very happy!! :D xubuntu was very dull wasn't it?

I started using Linux last April (I think) after getting completely sick of my ridiculous Windows Vista. I first got Ubuntu, which was okay but ran kind of slowly on my ancient laptop. After that I got Linux Mint 13 Mate which I liked more (though it was not as attractively put together), and I ended up running that until November, when I got Xubuntu (liked the interface but it was kind of glitchy). Two weeks ago I went back to Mint, got the xfce version this time, and it's pretty near perfect so far.

I'm using Windows on all of my computers (my dying laptop has Vista, two netbooks have Win7 starters, my computer has Win7 Professional and my new laptop has Windows 8.1). I also have an android tablet and an iOs phone.

Jhud- o: have you ever considered linux for your dying laptop?

Apparently it refuses to install anything else than vista, also I don't think we would even manage to do anything with it anyway, as it freezes after non standard amount of time. Like, freezes forever, you can't do anything with it.

This computer is Windows 7 Home Premium. I don't really like it, mainly because of its incompatibility with a lot of older programs, but certain newer programs I use require Windows 7. :/ I have previously used Vista (ugh), XP (okay), ME (absolutely awful), 95/98 (I really like them; even though they may lack a lot of features, they're old but nice :) ), and MS-DOS (yay! But now I use DOSBox).

You can set the compatibility in properties.

Windows 7 on my notebook and Windows XP on my laptop for games. I use DOSbox for old games like 'Hugo's House of Horrors'.
I also have an iPhone, so iOS there, ofc. :)
