Obviously the new brand of Hamster food you bought him/her isn't suiting your hamster's tastes. He/she was used to the other one, and it has grown on him/her.

Just buy the old brand. You should always stick to the same brand.

But usually hamsters stuff their cheeks with food and hide it somewhere in the cage. So he/she probably has a secret stash somewhere.

but what im really worried about is that the food dish has the same amount of food in it that it did 3 days ago and he also not drining and his heart rate has gone down, my parents dont want to take him to the vet because hes a "lower form of life" and they "have better things to spend their money on" i dont blame them, they didnt want him in the first place but i love him and i want to help him :)

feed him carrots and stuff. hamsters always accept things like that. just do not feed them iceberg lettuce. xD

Ask for a small sample of old food from wherever you buy it and try to feed him. If s/he doesn't eat it, ask a professional.

Trust me....

How can you know what a hamster's heart rate is any way?

My hamsters are not always hungry.

All you can do now is sit back and watch.

Switching foods is always a risk. You just never know if the critter will like it.

Just go out and get the stuff it was used to.

If you are going from one food to a completely different thing, that is even more of a risk. ;) (like seed to pellet)

well u can see cuz he usually breaths regular and now he breaths really slowly

Is he sleepier than normal? Less active? If he is not eating, having breathing difficulty, and is slower than usual he is most likely sick. Check his poops and bottom to see if he has diarrhea. If he does, you can get him an antibiotic to fix him called Dri-Tail at PetSmart. It is inexpensive and fairly effective.

...I also suggest going out and buying your hamster his old brand of food again. If he doesn't like it just feed him on carrots and all for a few days till you find the right brand. If that doesn't work, try what Aubrey Hepburn said which I quoted. Good luck in curing your pet hamster and getting him to eat agin
