My Octo-Pets penguin evolved again, and this form was beyond unexpected!

5naXFp8.jpg

A seal has attempted to eat the penguin (you can see his face sticking out of the seal's mouth), and is masquerading as my virtual pet! :eek: I certainly can't fault the research or the sense of humour that went into this poor-care form! :lol:

I know from the Super Gyaoppi that these guys change a lot, so there'll hopefully be plenty more to see in this run before it's over.

That's pretty cheeky of the programmers.

My Tamagotchi Original evolved into Nyorotchi this morning. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take a picture at the time, and by this afternoon he had passed on.

Meanwhile, over on the Octo-Pets, the sinister seal is still hanging around! :eek:

I've re-tabbed the Sunset Tamagotchi Original for now, and will start up something new soon - most likely the Digimon Original remake, though I don't know yet whether or not I'll run that side-by-side with my original vintage one so that I can connect them for battles. We'll see.

I'm finding these runs at the moment to be quite interesting - typically, if I'm busy, I'll pause my virtual pets, but I haven't been doing that lately. Some are certainly more hardy than others - the vintage Digimon and the Octo-Pets, in particular, are far more friendly to a lack of free time than the original Tamagotchi devices (vintage or remake) are. :p This approach will probably lead to plenty of disasters once I start introducing the vintage Giga Pets, and possibly even the GigaPetsAR, into the picture! :lol:

That's pretty cheeky of the programmers.
I know, right? :lol: The dark humour got me, though; Most people act like seals are super-cute, but they're actually pretty savage when they're preying on penguins - most folks just don't seem to know that, and it really surprised me to see that knowledge being exhibited in a cartoonish Tom & Jerry sort of style in a vintage virtual pet. The attention to detail in the Super Gyaoppi and its variants really is impressive! :D

Moreover, the idea of a virtual parasite, of sorts, latching onto a virtual pet is kind of interesting. Granted, this was just done by way of one of the available evolutions, but it's still pretty neat. :p

The Octo-Pets penguin has evolved yet again, into this jolly gentleman. :D

The last time that I saw this form was when I last ran the penguin on my now-sadly-missing Super Gyaoppi, and it happened to be the last one before that fellow passed on, so I associate this form with old age, though I don't know for sure if it actually is an old-age form, yet. It certainly looks like one, though, since at this point it looks like his feathers have faded.

It's nice that he still seems so happy in spite of his age, though - he vaults around the screen joyfully in this form, looking like he wants to give you a hug. :lol:

Today's transformation for the Octo-Pets penguin sees him having grown into this big guy, who spins around the screen like a top! :lol: Maybe the faded form from the previous transformation isn't age-related after all?

No updates today, as the Octo-Pets penguin didn't transform this time! :eek:

I do still have a picture, however, as I got some new additions to my collection in the mail earlier. Here they are;

Rznk4zL.jpg

Tamagotchi Fantasy Dome watch - Tarakotchi - Back in the 1990s, bubble-watches were a popular gadget (I had a monkey-themed one, myself, with a banana that floated around in the watch-face). Also back in the 1990s, I loved the Tamagotchi and its competitors, and the hobby that they spawned. This watch combines both of those nostalgic elements, and it features my present-day favourite Tamagotchi character, Tarakotchi, to boot! :D (I would've gotten it regardless, but the fact that it's a Tarakotchi one made it even better.)

PowerPalz Frog - I've wanted a PowerPalz device in my collection for a while, and now I have one. If I like this frog one, I'll try to find a different animal at some point, since these pets can connect, and supposedly this can result in bizarre hybrid offspring! :eek:

Tamagotchi: The Movie (DVD) - Apparently, the English dub of Tamagotchi: The Movie was only released in the UK and Australia, as a straight-to-DVD affair, and not anywhere else in any form. It's really cheap to buy it in good condition, so I figured that I ought to have a copy in my virtual pets collection! :)

Tamagotchi Original Gen 1 (Neon) - I bought this one for another custom project. I'm going to turn this one into a watch! :D

The penguin is back to spinning again, today! :)

I'm pretty sure that the transformations are influenced by the state of the various meters at the time of evolution, which would account for the repeats that I've gotten lately.

I also got a new addition in the mail today - Funny Monkey;

I picked this up thinking that, from the looks of it, it might be a Nano or MGA clone, but a quick check reveals that it uses programming that I don't remember seeing before. I have no idea if that's a good thing or a bad thing. :p

The Octo-Pets penguin has remained in the same form for a couple of days now, so here are a couple of small collection-related updates;

Firstly, I finished my "Tamawatchi" project, and turned that Neon Tamagotchi Original Gen 1 into a watch. :D

And secondly, I took delivery of two more Tamagotchi character plushes to add to my wider collection of virtual pet-related merchandise;

Tamagotchi Mini Keepers - Tamatchi - Part of a 1997 line of plushes by Toy Island that have a "secret" pouch for holding a Tamagotchi device inside, this is a plush of Tamatchi that's based on the early Western artwork for the Tamagotchi line, as opposed to the original Japanese art, which is why he's yellow and rectangular instead of pink, round, squat, and Kirby-like.

Tamagotchi Cybies - Zuccitchi - After getting Zuccitchi on the Pac-Man Tamagotchi during my most recent run of it, and finding him to be quite quirky and charming, I just had to pick up this little beanie version by Bandai themselves after I stumbled across him one day. As with Tamatchi, above, he's based on the early Western Tamagotchi artwork. Come to think of it, I've never seen a Zuccitchi plush that's based on the Japanese artwork. :huh:

I LOVE IT
Haha, thankyou so much! :D Though it was a pretty simple project, I had a lot of fun with this one, purely because a watch-format Tamagotchi is something that I've always wanted to own, ever since the line first came to the West in 1997.

It seems like such an obvious extension of the toy-line that I remain amazed that Bandai has never manufactured such a thing officially.

I thought I saw one on JYW maybe? :huh:   :kusatchi:
Those are just watches - they have no virtual pet functionality.

I do want to pick up a digital version of one of those at some point (as far as I know, there are analogue ones as well), but that wasn't what I was aiming for here. :)

Well, quite possibly sick of seal-attacks, my Octo-Pets penguin has called it quits and said goodbye. :p This is the bad ending - had I made it to 24 days instead of 17, he would've become an angel, instead; Unfortunately, I just didn't have enough time to tend to him for the last couple of days, and this was the result. It was still a pretty good run, though, with lots of fun transformations. :D

I will most likely start up my Digimon Original tomorrow, as I've been looking forward to running that remake. :D I might also run the Tamagotchi Pinny and the Tamawatchi alongside it.

Also, I have a new addition to my collection;

Ganbare!! Inuda-kun - I've made it a point not to re-buy identical pets to my 1990s collection, though this is the most similar pet that I've ever allowed myself to pick up for my modern collection. Back in 1997 I owned the watch version of this pet (commonly known as "Poochie Puppy", though it was exclusive to QVC UK here and the UK version, which was only available in watch format as far as I know, wasn't sold under that name as far as I remember), in a differently-coloured version of this shell (the white one with a green kennel and pale-brown dog, if memory serves), but here I've picked up the orange version in keychain format. This is a really cute pet, and I'm really looking forward to running it. :D

the seal probably just wants you to keep in mind that he'll come back anytime? XD
That is entirely possible - you've gotta watch out for those seals, they can't be trusted! 👿
