Wow i feel pretty bad for your friend but....Having sex at 12....is so wrong. 12 year olds arent supposed to be doing that stuff so she put it on herself :l
~Mamitchi465~
I know, but she's had a hard life.

Now I will shut-up. I'm not gonna' yap on and on about my friends life online.

Can I just add something to the discussion?

I'm not a teen (most of you know I'm an adult anyway) - but unprotected sex before OR after marriage can lead to pregnancy... even if you are happily married you don't necessarily want to have a baby... you may not feel ready for parent hood, you may not be able to afford a baby, you may just want to spend some time with your partner without the huge, long-term committment that a child brings to a marriage...

Whether you are married or not... protected sex (whatever kind of birth control you choose) is sensible if you don't want to get pregnant.

I exlude from this any people who will not use birth control for religious reasons... before anyone mentions it ^_^

Otherwise, the only time you should ever have unprotected sex is when you are trying to concieve a child. At all other times both before and after marriage, use contraception. It's not "rocket science!" ;)

TamaMum pretty much explained it right there! :D

Seriously, what I'm about to say is to people who don't want a baby. It's not that hard to buy or wear a Condom or take some birth control pills.

1 sentence: TOO LAZY OR TOO EMBARRASSED TO WEAR OR BUY BIRTH CONTROL PILLS OR A CONDOM IS BULL!

{CONDOM} Seriously! It's not that hard to do! Go to the shops, buy a packet and PUT IT ON!

{BIRTH CONTROL PILLS} What are you? idiots? BUY SOME AND TAKE SOME!

People act like it's the end of the world to get some protection in sex. >.>

Okay, enough of ranting. Now to calm down, and play Sonic the hedgehog.... ^_^

You have to remember that getting birth control pills isn't always as easy as go to the store. Some pharmacists refuse to sell birth control pills to people that look 'too young' based on their own opinions. Stupid, but sadly they're allowed to do so.

You also have to think that some parents would freak to no end if they find out their kid is on birth control, let alone having sex.

Also, condoms and birth control aren't 100% going to keep you from getting pregnant. Accidents happen.

The too embarrassed excuse is indeed stupid, I'll agree with you there.

Now that I think about it, I kinda agree with you at the bolded bits.

I just hate it when they say they're too embarrassed or too lazy. Though I would be embarrassed, I'd buy them anyway. >_>

Being too lazy and embarrassed is a stupid reason. In my eyes, if you're modest enough to get naked for someone, you're modest enough to go buy condoms.

Yeah. But even condoms aren't that reliable.

So you'd rather have no protection than any at all just because you're too embarrassed or lazy?

No birth control is 100% effective anyway, but it's better to use something rather than nothing.

There's a girl in my school that's been pregnant for about 5 months I think.

My parents said (when I told them about the girl in my school) "She's throwing her life out! Who do you think is going to graduate high school - her or the father of her baby? Who will end up having the better life - her or the father of her baby? That boy she did it with just wanted to get his rocks on in this girl. She's just going to fail classes, drop out, and work the fryer at Mickey D's for the rest of her life."

Whoa. ;) That is way too sterotypical. Just because you get pregnant at a young age, doesn't mean it's the end. There is open adoption for example. Also, in my school, they offer a class where the prerequosite (sp?) is to be pregnant or already have a child. They will help you and offer services so you can sucessful finish school while taking care of your child.

I personally do not believe in sex before marrige. Where my religion comes in.

And yes, if the man you are planning on having sex with insists upon not using a condom, he's not worth it. If he really loved you, he would put your saftey and future before his own wants. :)

To all the people saying 'oh it ruins your life, you drop out of school and never do well etc'.

My friend has a two and a half year old. She graduated on the 13th. On time, with honors.

Stereotypes are lame. Lay off of them.

Yes, I am. They have no business having babies at that young age. A teen's only job is to finish school and go to college and/or get a job and stablize themselves. They don't need to be sleeping around with guys and stuff.
Last time I checked, it wasn't your business what their business is. Guess what? It isn't exactly your business to tell them when they can have a child. You can't say it isn't their business, because that isn't your business. If they want a kid, and they the circumstances are good, I say that is their choice.

I much agree Eskay. I much agree.

I agree. People can have kids when they want- people mature at different points. Just don't get pregnant when you are too young, and not mature enough. Like Sweet Kandi said- 'my friend has a two and a half year kid'. Her friend is obviously mature enough to be taking care of her own son, instead of child services taking it away or her parents taking care of the grand child. It shows her friend grew up faster.

Some people are ready to have kids at 16, but others may no be ready until later. It's like puberty, i guess- pubery happens at different rates in people, so does maturity.

And excuse me, GotchiGirl96? You are the one with having no business. It's not your business to worry of someone else's sex life, it's not our business whether they get knocked up or not.

But I do say, it depends whther it ruinds your life or not. Say you were just having sex for fun, and then you get an unwanted pregnancy. Some people can handle it- emotional and financial wise. But others may not be able to handle a child. It just depends on the person's maturity and finance. I hear having a child is costly.

Anyway, for me, I would never get pregnant as a teen. I don't intend on having sex when I'm still a teen. But then again, if I do end up, I'l be sure to use protection.

^ That is almost exactly my opinion.

Thanks for making it a bit clearer, I couldn't get it into the right words. You're talented like that :3

I know - my mom just thinks she's so right about that. Then again, I live in a small isolated town so there aren't that many services for pregnant teenagers.

Exactly. My parents are die hard evangelical christians who think that sex outside of marriage is wrong, and I've been told my entire life that sex before marriage is wrong, and that basically when you lose your virginity if you do it before marriage your self worth disappears. So if my parents knew i'm not a virgin I would be kicked out of the house. And birth control takes a perscription, which means parents need to know about it. Otherwise I would definitely be on it, and I agree the embarrassmant excuse is dumb. Besides if you are to embarrassed to do that then I don't even know how you could have sex. But anyways My mom already is like on the verge of kicking me out of the house because she knows i've kissed my boyfriend.

But we (me and my long term boyfriend) do use condoms because neither of us want a baby, and he knows what would happen to me if I did get pregnant. It still kind of scares me, birth control is not full proof, but if I did get pregnant I know he wouldn't leave me.

But I actually think it's really sad that a lot of the people on here think that teens who get pregnant are "idiots". They just made a mistake, they're not idiotic.
