How old does a Tamagotchi V4 have to be in order for the matchmaker to come?

Your Tamagotchi, has to have been an adult for about 3 days on the V4/4.5.

It usually comes at around about 5/6 years old, but depending on the amount of time it's paused, the Matchmaker could come as late as 7 years old!

Try not to pause it when it's an adult that much, as it might interfere with its growth and cause the Matchmaker to come later, like I explained.
