Tamagotchi v4.5 school game.

I haven't played the v4.5/v4 in ages, and I don't remember how to play the present game. What I remembered, was if the left present flashed twice, then it would move over to the left two spaces.

If the middle flashed twice, it stayed. And if the right flashed twice, it would move to the right two spaces.

Apparently this isn't how it works, since I keep losing that game. I don't have my instruction manual, either, so can someone refresh my memory on how to play this?

There are three presents. Two have some poop, and one has skill points. The flashing represents the presents switching; for example, if the first present contains skill points and the second contains poop, and the first and second presents flash, it means that the skill points have moved over to the middle, and so forth. Then, when the presents are done switching, your Tamagotchi must choose the correct present, which is the one that contains the skill points.
