Hi! I am new to the Tamagotchi P (and this website so forgive me if this was answered in a previous forum) but not new to tamagotchi, in general. It has taken me some research to understand all the buttons and menu's but so far I have gotten it down pack for the most part. The only thing I am having trouble with understanding and finding information on is the "IRDA" business.

All I know is that it's used to download things, but I am not even sure how to go about this.
I don't even know what you can necessarily download.. Any help would be very much appreciated.

(P.S I have a macbook.)

Welcome to TamaTalk!

The downloads release for the P's version takes the form of in-game food items, wallpapers, items, clothes, accessories and locations to visit.

They are released in a modified JPEG form which can be beamed to the device.

A helpful topic with screenshots can be found here, however this is for the Windows platform. It is rather tricky to use the USB infrared transmitter but with the proper effort and timing, it does work. Having said that, I have yet to see anyone make it work in a Macbook (since I am a Windows user myself). An alternate method would be using a phone with IR capabilities as an alternative solution.

Just my two cents~

I've done downloads with my ID L (two different ones, actually), and while the USB thing is finicky.. it works after a few tries with timing.

When using the same technique with my P's, I can't get it to work. My computer just doesn't seem to see it. On the P's, if I go to the 1st option under ID L connections and put it by the dongle - my computer sees it. If I use the download feature - it doesn't see it. Weird :(

Thank you guys for the answers.. dissapointed there isn't much help with the macbook but perhaps I should be a little more patient and wait a little longer for someone to figure it out, hehe! :p
