So it's better to hate Tamagotchi than to love it? It makes Bandai want to make Tamagotchi "better"? Why not just be happy for what it is?

Think about your friends. Would you hate your friends to "encourage" them to become better? To REALLY love your friends, you need to complain about them? That makes no sense! I don't see what needs to be complained about Tamagotchi anyway! I don't care what other people think... people just want more hatred in the world when there already is enough.

I'm tired of people complaining about it being for girls. Even the connection series characters are cute with big heads and kawaii eyes. It's about looking after a pet. The cute characters and nurturing feature automatically make it seem for girls, whether boys are in the target audience or not. Stuff for boys is usually about monsters and battling, not a little device with cute critters to feed and play with.

What do you expect Bandai to do? They tried to appeal to both boys and girls before, but now the franchise has failed. Whereas in Japan, it is aimed at girls and is super popular. So Bandai UK/America did what Bandai Japan did and made it for girls.

There's an Aesop's fable where there's a guy who likes two girls. One of them likes his hair and the other one likes him bald. So, to please both of them, he shaves half his head but not the other half. Both girls despise his hairstyle and he ends up with neither girl. The moral is, "Try to please everyone, and please no one."

You CHOOSE to like something that's for girls, so no reason to be a fan and then just complain constantly... no matter what changes Tamagotchi goes through, I'll stick with it until the end.

Why don't I hate Tamagotchi Friends? Why don't I complain about Tamagotchi being girly and all that rubbish? I used to complain about it being girly and stuff but not anymore because my love for Tamagotchi has strengthened more than ever before and now I love it for what it is rather than being so fussy...

You WANT me to hate Tamagotchi Friends so that Bandai will make "better" Tamagotchis. But you should love a franchise for what it is. Not what you WANT it to be. Don't like Barbie Dolls and expect them to make battling Barbies that come with weapons and armor...
We won't ever get what we want if we stay quiet, a company must listen to their fans to please them and don't loose them. We do not HATE tamagotchi friends, we are just saying it could be much better than it is, and as fans we WANT it to be better so it's more enjoyable.

As supahcow090 said, Tamagotchi was for boys and girls and they took that away from us. were barbies ever for boys? I doubt it.

Can't boys have pets? it's only for girls right? no, boys can have pets, the same goes for tamagotchis.

And this is not the same as the two girls and the boys hair, Bandai can keep all the girly stuff they have, they just have to add stuff for boys too. Making everyone happy is fairly easy, so why not to do it?

It's great you enjoy TF, but it seems you don't want us to enjoy it, We want to enjoy it, so that's why we complain, so they care about us too.

"So it's better to hate Tamagotchi than to love it? It makes Bandai want to make Tamagotchi "better"? Why not just be happy for what it is?"

We hate the characteristic of it, not the franchise itself. Why would I be even here if I hate Tamagotchi, right? And yes, addressing problems can extremely help. For example, you have been following this formula all along and thought it was the right one but really, it isn't. It would be extremely helpful if someone would complain about the formula you've been following, wouldn't it?

"Think about your friends. Would you hate your friends to "encourage" them to become better? To REALLY love your friends, you need to complain about them? That makes no sense! I don't see what needs to be complained about Tamagotchi anyway! I don't care what other people think... people just want more hatred in the world when there already is enough."

Like I said, it's the feature or characteristic we hate, not the product.franchise/person itself. If your best friend is too loud and disturbs others, you would tell them, right? Or would you just let him/her be and let him/her be someone no one likes?

"I'm tired of people complaining about it being for girls. Even the connection series characters are cute with big heads and kawaii eyes. It's about looking after a pet. The cute characters and nurturing feature automatically make it seem for girls, whether boys are in the target audience or not. Stuff for boys is usually about monsters and battling, not a little device with cute critters to feed and play with."

Except Bandai made it to be gender-neutral. Compare the growth chart of the current Tamagotchis to the older ones. More gender-neutral. Because right from the start, before we were both even born, it was meant to attract both sexes. And that's why we're ranting. Because it turned into a girly device rather than a gender-neutral one.

"What do you expect Bandai to do? They tried to appeal to both boys and girls before, but now the franchise has failed. Whereas in Japan, it is aimed at girls and is super popular. So Bandai UK/America did what Bandai Japan did and made it for girls."

Oh, because it's greatest outbreak was an all-girl version too? No. the P1 and P2 was gender-neutral and everyone one bought them. It even became extremely popular that it was banned from school. Bandai failed because of the features. They didn't fail with the versions 1 to 6 and it was gender-neutral. it started to fail when the Tama-Go was released, and it's gender-appeal did not affect it's failure. It was, simply, the lack of features. The gender issue is not related to it's failure.

"There's an Aesop's fable where there's a guy who likes two girls. One of them likes his hair and the other one likes him bald. So, to please both of them, he shaves half his head but not the other half. Both girls despise his hairstyle and he ends up with neither girl. The moral is, "Try to please everyone, and please no one."

Well certainly they aren't pleasing everyone, but since they started with a huge audience, they couldn't just make this device a gender-exclusive. It's like taking away the connection feature after the Tama-Go, it's unfair. It was their choice to please a wide audience and it should be their job to continue pleasing the same audience.

"You CHOOSE to like something that's for girls, so no reason to be a fan and then just complain constantly... no matter what changes Tamagotchi goes through, I'll stick with it until the end."

Here we go again. It is not for girls, excluding Tamagotchi Friends, I guess. But since we;re talking about the whole franchise, it is not for girls. If we are talking about the Friends, then we didn't choose to like it. Quite the opposite, actually. We despise it.

"Why don't I hate Tamagotchi Friends? Why don't I complain about Tamagotchi being girly and all that rubbish? I used to complain about it being girly and stuff but not anymore because my love for Tamagotchi has strengthened more than ever before and now I love it for what it is rather than being so fussy..."

W You complained as well. And we're at the stage of complaining. Maybe we'll love the Friends as you do after we stop, maybe not. We also have love for the franchise but we express our love in different ways. You choose to support it 'till the end no matter what and we choose to correct their mistakes so it becomes the perfect gadget for everyone and then love it 'till the end.

"You WANT me to hate Tamagotchi Friends so that Bandai will make "better" Tamagotchis. But you should love a franchise for what it is. Not what you WANT it to be. Don't like Barbie Dolls and expect them to make battling Barbies that come with weapons and armor..."

No one said we want you to hate the Friends. We dislike it. We didn't ask you to join us. You made this topic so you should respect our opinions as we respect yours. We love the franchise for what it was before this... I don't even know what to call it, ruined it for some of us. And please, don't compare Barbie Dolls to Tamagotchis. Barbie dolls were originally created for girls and until now, they're aimed for girls. Tamagotchis were originally created for everyone but then took the wrong turn and aimed it for girls. There's a huge difference. A huge one.

I have to agree with everything Myiko said.

I'm just gonna say.... @EMF you say you "don't care what we think" then go on and on and on about how we should just like a product and not dislike it!? Obviously you do then. Without consumer opinion and companies listening to what people want like everyone has said that product will never be any good or succeed the TF is just plain not what the consumer and market wants just because you are the small part that does like it, it makes your opinion the minority if the majority of fans say it's not as good as it could be then IT ISN'T. And no you can't please everyone but you at least TRY to please the majority rather than two people.

Your ideal is like saying "this iPhone has bad battery life, the screen breaks and it can't do anything the older ones can, but let's buy it anyway because it's an iPhone"

Grow up people :(

There is nothing wrong with expressing your opinion about the marketing of tamagotchis as long as you respect the site rules of TamaTalk and maintain a friendly, helpful and positive attitude.

If you're not able to post in a discussion topic without making rude remarks, accusations and provocative statements, then keep out of it.

I don't need to see anyone posting apologies.

I'd like to see experienced members give more consideration for TamaTalk site rules and I'd like to see a polite, constructive discussion.

(or it will be closed / removed / moderator restrictions will be applied).

Edit: I will just add (although it should be obvious to everyone) that almost every active member of this site is a Tamagotchi Fan. They wouldn't be visitng TamaTalk and posting here if they weren't.

Trying to score points over each other by proclaiming who is (or who is not) a "true" or "loyal" fan is neither friendly, respectful nor positive (neither is willfully misinterpreting someone else's post so that you can start flaming).

That attitude is not welcome here.

I think its fine for fans to dislike a few Tamagptchis, but that doesn't mean you should hate on every single one which is coming out. However, you don't have to like every single one either.

We all have different tastes in Tamagotchis -- some like vintages, some like colour screens, some like different shell designs etc. However, in my opinion, I don't think its wrong to dislike greyscale because as I said, everyone has different tastes.

If you really dislike a Tamagotchi, you shouldn't bash Bandai about it and you should give valid reasons on why you hate it. I see comments like 'I just hate the Tama-Go so much!' without any valid reasons.

So, we can like what we want and we can dislike what we want. Just don't exaggerate about it.

Wow.... I've seen so many bad things on this topic... I thought to take part in this discussion but now I want no more O___o I think something's degenerating....Plus, I don't want to write what others have already explained well... I just wanted to say something to Myiko :)

@Myiko!! I don't like P's characters too, (and girlish things too) but I have to say they're much more enjoyable on the TF, because the sprites are simpler and "bigger" if confronted with the size of the screen :) They're actually pretty cute! ^_^ I'm saying this just because if you ever want to buy a TF for collectionism or you ever get it as a present, don't worry :) Characters won't be a problem and by this point of view it's still quite enjoyable (to me, the major thing of a tama are characters: if "they're not good" is nosense to buy a tama).

I don't even like the color tamagotchis, they don't do anything for me, I don't get nostalgic when I think of one, but when I think of the non color tamagotchis I feel nostalgic and I makes me wanna play with them. The new tamagotchi friends is directed for little girls and I really think that was a poor choice, they should've made the product appealing to both genders to attract more buyers, like with the connections there was girly shells, more guyish ones and others that both would be comfortable playing with!

I think it's not fair to simply call out on everyone being fussy or a hater just because we have criticisms and negative remarks about something. Issuing a blanket statement is perfect if you intend to start a flame war... and not to mention a very effective form of attention-seeking to say the least.

I happen to own both versions... and honest to goodness - sorry, I don't think this latest version does it for me. Is it because I am biased to the colour versions? Yes - but is that a bad thing? I don't think so. After all, it's the same product. By Bandai, regardless of regions, release timelines and everything else.

Going down to the technicalities, I'm not personally satisfied because this release is simply more of a "bring it back" hype and does not exactly introduce innovation or revolution. It is merely a rehash of what was already been done before. I actually think my V6 has way more entertaining features than the Friends. But don't get me wrong - perhaps I am not the right target market for it... but for people like you who claims to love it, then good for you!

I would like to reiterate that I'm not a fan of this version not just because it's not in colour. The previous versions have more advanced features than this one, and this is what disappoints me to begin with... let alone the quality of the workmanship. Please don't get me started with NFC. It's not an altogether new technology. It's just basically an improved version of the RFID (radio frequency identification) technology which uses less energy but faster transfer rate and less production/deployment costs.

Just like TM said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You like it? Good for you. You don't like it? Too bad - but hey, I'm pretty sure there's always a different version that satisfies what we find lacking from TF.

Besides, if we don't point out what we like or don't like... we're giving Bandai an impression that we do not care... however, we do. We know that Bandai can do better than this. it is why we are pointing this out. So being fussy is not exactly a bad thing. Critical? Yes, but it's different from hatred. And I criticize every version... does that make me a hater? And please never use blanket statements and stereotyping. It's not a fair way to start a discussion or an argument.

Always keep in mind that feedback is always a good thing - regardless being good or bad. It's what keeps a business or individual growing and preventing them from becoming stale. ;)

How come in topics where people are hating against Tamagotchi Friends/Bandai America, people are like "OMG YES I AGREE XOXOX PREACH <3 <3 <3" but a topic expressing LOVE for all kinds of Tamagotchi is called "attention-seeking" and sinful?

It's not FAIR for me to disapprove of endless hatred for Tamagotchi Friends, but it's FAIR to be insulted because I love it?

What are you talking about? Which part of my response that said it's unfair for you to love the version? What I said was...

I think it's not fair to simply call out on everyone being fussy or a hater just because we have criticisms and negative remarks about something.
If you actually took the time to read and understood what I (and everybody else) said, it is crystal clear that what I'm referring to is the blanket statement and not your disapproval. To be honest, I can't really be sure if you're reading this from a subjective point of view. If you ask me, I would suggest that you don't take any opposing response as hostile because honest-to-goodness... no one's out here to get you. :p You're in a public forum - you can't expect everyone 100% to have completely similar way of thinking as yourself. Maybe there are some things we don't agree with, but nothing personal! It's what you call a healthy discussion. :)

Actually, you could have received a warmer response if you have tried to word it differently, something like "I feel bad that most people don't like the Tamagotchi Friends... it's awesome and I love it" instead of...

I never expected the Tamagotchi fanbase to be so fussy... why is there so much hatred? So many complaints? Do we really have the right to complain, since we're not in Tamagotchi's target audience at all? Do we really DESERVE for Bandai to bring us exactly what we want?
The blanket statement did ruffle many feathers, as evident with the responses. The thing here is, communicate by objective and not by your personal emotions... because from another perspective, your statement sounds accusatory - these kinds of statements attract negative responses. I'm sorry that you're getting heated answers, but it was worded to invite such. Reading back on most of the comments... most of them are actually constructive. The thing is, some people have said that they think of the same and they agree with you. Were they called out by everyone else for agreeing with you? Nope, it's all good! But whenever someone says they disagree with you and try to explain their opinions, you're making them sound like they're hostile and mean... which isn't true at all!

Going back on topic... yes, by all means go express your love! Likewise, we have the right to complain as well. After all, we are consumers and we are paying for the product - so we expect to get what we pay for.

Oh, and "expressing your love" does not mean creating a blanket statement about the people who think differently and accuses them of many different things. ;)

Even if you don't admit it to us openly, in one way or another you may have a negative or not-so-warm feedback about something - and you can trust us that we will not treat you any less just because of that.

Yes, we deserve for Bandai to bring us exactly what we want... because they want our hard-earned money to begin with. With an economy like this, money is getting much harder to come by so isn't it smart to make sure that we're getting our penny's worth? ;)

You might want to read this again.

Trying to score points over each other by proclaiming who is (or who is not) a "true" or "loyal" fan is neither friendly, respectful nor positive (neither is willfully misinterpreting someone else's post so that you can start flaming).

That attitude is not welcome here.

* * *

Don't forget ---- healthy discussions. We'll keep watch over this topic. Behave and don't make us sprinkle the magic powder and keep the discussions civilized, smart and informative. Okay? :D

Like some people said please be respectful to Eternal Mametchi Fan's posts

...

I'm really excited for the Tamagotchi Friends and I don't care if it's color or not it's like saying "WHY ISN'T THE V6 IN COLOR!!!!1111!!!1!???" I don't see people hating on the iD L or the P's soz why hate the TF the P's was girly and the only thing people complained was that it had gems on it or so I think. I'm starting to get annoyed on all this hating on this new Tamagotchi that was released like I guess 4 years after the Tama-Go

Well I am sorry. I do feel guilty... I was quite sick and tired yesterday and didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings. But I do not want Tamagotchi's feelings to be hurt either.

It's much more complicated than one would understand.

Saying I'm not a real fan because I don't complain about Tamagotchi Friends is a terrible and hurtful thing to say! It made me cry. :( Do you know how much Tamagotchi has impacted my life, how I overcame depression and loss of everything I cared about only thanks to Tamagotchis? Do you know how much time I spend holding my Tamagotchis close to my heart, telling them in my mind "I love you" and the warm, positive energy that I feel back makes me know the Tamagotchis are saying "I love you, too."

I'd rather go homeless and live in the streets for the rest of my life than sell a single one of my Tamagotchis.

I never said anyone wasn't a real fan. I said not many people are LOYAL fans. A LOYAL person sticks by their friends no matter what and always supports them. But most Tamagotchi fans aren't loyal to the franchise, for they used to love and adore their simple, grayscale Tamagotchis but now they hate the new Tamagotchi Friends for not having 1,000,000 features to satisfy them and not having a color screen because now that everyone's been using iPhones and tablets, grayscale screens have become unbearable to them.

I did not make this topic for my health. I EXPECTED people to criticize my honest opinions and love for an oh-so-terrible Tamagotchi version.

The thing is, like I may or may not have said before, I think everything in the world can emit emotion. I detect a certain aurora/emotion surrounding certain franchises. And when I focus on Tamagotchi Friends, what I feel in my heart is strong negativity that breaks my heart. :'( All I had to do was sit and concentrate, and FEEL, and I felt Tamagotchi's sadness from hatred and disloyalty of the fans. :c The negativity is so strong that I had to go to the bathroom to throw up... It makes me so, so, so sad that there is enough scorn for the Tamagotchi Friends to make me sick when I concentrate on Tamagotchi's aura. But when I focus on CHILDREN while thinking of Tamagotchi Friends, I feel lighthearted joy and happiness. :) A lot of kids are delighted by the Tamagotchi Friends! But the fanbase in general? No... I do feel some positivity but the negativity completely outweighs it.

The Tamagotchi Friends franchise is sad. :(

Why do you play with Tamagotchis? Is it a fun hobby? To experience features and such? Personally, I play with Tamagotchis because I LOVE and CARE FOR the characters. I want to make Tamagotchis HAPPY. Even if a Tamagotchi was $100 and had nothing but a character sitting in the middle of the screen and only one button you press to make it happy, I'd love the Tamagotchi so very much. I love and adore the Tamagotchi Friends and try to spread my reasoning because it hurts me so very much that people have such intense hatred for the poor things. I want to make Tamagotchis HAPPIER. Tamagotchis are my closest friends and I'd rather die a million painful deaths than live without them.

All Tamagotchis deserve happiness.

It's okay to complain. Nothing is perfect. But people's intense irrational hatred is very terrible. Calling it a worthless piece of junk? It's a VIRTUAL PET FOR CHILDREN. It makes people happy. It is not worthless if it brings happiness to the world.

Can you imagine calling a HUMAN a worthless piece of junk? That's how Tamagotchi Friends feel. I wasn't even directing at anyone on TamaTalk to be honest, I'm tired of getting YouTube comments on my Tamagotchi Friends videos telling me that the version sucks and I should buy an iD L or P's instead. Um, I already have an iD L and P's.

At least Bandai America "fixed" the screen, although I don't see what was wrong with it in the first place. But no, people STILL aren't satisfied. When Bandai DOES listen to the fans, people generally ignore it and find more stuff to complain about. There are still people who like vintages. Vintages have very few characters, one game, and no items or shop at all. But people are allowed to love vintages. Why aren't people allowed to love the TF? Does it really matter what year the Tamagotchi was made in order for you to enjoy it? If the Tamagotchi Friends was the first version and the P1 was Bandai America's newest, people would complain a lot more I bet...

But alas, positive opinions on Tamagotchi Friends isn't allowed. As soon as someone defends this release, someone else is like, "NOPE PEOPLE ARE ONLY ALLOWED TO HAVE NEGATIVE OPINIONS!"

Why do you need ME to complain about Tamagotchi Friends? Aren't enough people doing it already? I don't see what needs to be complained about. You can complain on your behalf if you wish. But don't expect insulting a teenager girl on the internet who loves TF will magically make a fairy appear and turn the Tamagotchi Friends into a color-screen version with Wi-Fi and exactly every character and every feature you want on it. :)

To everyone else, Tamagotchi is a just a toy that has to be perfect for their tastes in order to be good.

But to me, Tamagotchi is so much more. It's alive. I can sense their emotions and know what they need even when their sound is turned off and without looking at the stats.

But, you don't need to believe anything I say, or take my opinions seriously if you do not wish to. I never was right in the head anyway. :p
