I never expected the Tamagotchi fanbase to be so fussy... why is there so much hatred? So many complaints? Do we really have the right to complain, since we're not in Tamagotchi's target audience at all? Do we really DESERVE for Bandai to bring us exactly what we want?

I remember when I got my first Tamagotchi, black and white screen and all. I loved the characters, I loved feeding my Tamagotchi, I loved playing games with it. I just loved making my Tamagotchi happy! I didn't care that it didn't have a bunch of features or lacked a color screen... it still made me happy and brightened my whole life.

Didn't you feel the same too?

But now look... even though Japan has already brought us so many color screens, we demand Bandai America to bring us one as well. Some people say they can't STAND grayscale screens anymore, and it's like all that matters to make a good Tamagotchi is a color screen.

I love the Tamagotchi Friends with all my heart... it reminds me of my first Tamagotchi! It brings me so much happiness, just like my first Tamagotchi did. I don't care whether a Tamagotchi has a color screen or a grayscale screen. Maybe grayscale screens are ugly and boring to some, but think, does looking ugly or boring make someone a bad person? I know I shouldn't be comparing Tamagotchis to humans but I believe everything has some kind of life energy and emotion including Tamagotchis... I know, I'm dumb haha....

Tamagotchi fans can no longer enjoy grayscale screens, even though we loved them when we were young. Most likely, your first Tamagotchi was made by Bandai America... such a wonderful little toy, it changed your life (it changed mine, that is). And even though Bandai America made our childhood great, and still brings us new Tamagotchis even though there's a huge chance it will be nothing but a huge profit loss, we COMPLAIN. Has technology really made us that desparate for a color screen and a bunch of features? What about the plain, simple virtual pet that made us smile when we were young? Everyone treats Bandai Japan like God and Bandai America like scum. Sad, sad, sad. Reminds me of weeaboos...

Why do people have to put so much effort into hating on certain Tamagotchis? Shouldn't the very fact it's a TAMAGOTCHi be enough? How can you call yourself a fan if you need a color screen and 100 features in order to enjoy a Tamagotchi?

Sorry for the long rant, I'm just upset at seeing people bashing Bandai America with no end without thinking about how much they have done for us... and if people are allowed to hate on Tamagotchis constantly, I should be allowed to express my feelings about this. I don't think I'm better than anyone else, I'm just surprised at how spiteful the Tamagotchi "fanbase" is...

I wonder how many loyal fans are left.

I agree with your claim on every point. People can't keep bashing away on Bandai America like nobody's business. It's not getting anyone anywhere. Because when people bash on a certain Tamagotchi whether or not they like it, they are also bashing on their favourite as well because they're both Tamagotchi's, right? I mean, if people prefer Bandai Japan and bash on Bandai America, they're also bashing on Bandai Japan because both companies make the same type of products. But I would also like to mention that the amount of hate and rejection going towards Tamagotchi Friends these days is unbelievable. And it's actually really biased because are just choosing to hate it just because it might not have a color screen or it might not be jam packed with features. Besides I don't care whether it has a colour screen or whether its jam packed with features...or not! It's still my favourite Tamagotchi and I enjoy it even more than I ever have ALL of my colour screen Tamagotchis put together. Let alone just one or two. Personally I like greyscale Tamagotchi a lot and I like how the new 4-scale feature introduced with the Tama-Go has brought everything to life. Tamagotchi Friends reused it and I will say that it looks so realistic on both of them! Besides Tamagotchi friends is a major step up from the connections and the vintages (and other Tamagotchis as well), as it clearly shows. Besides I would say that my feedback score for the Tamagotchi Friends, unlike the other Tamagotchis (which can go up 5 for minor and 10 for major positives, but can also go down if negatives are encountered) will go up instead of just 5, but 25 for minor positives and not just 10, but 50 for major ones, and it can't go down. It can only go up. I would like to say that I am a loyal fan and that I want to support Bandai America, no matter what anyone who doesn't support them says. The only Tamagotchis I DON'T like are FAKE Tamagotchis, and personally I think that people who are continually bashing on Bandai America and people who support them shouldn't do it. Because they wouldn't like it if the people who support Bandai America were bashing Bandai Japan and people who support THEM. And while people are entitled to their opinions, that INCLUDES people who stand up for Bandai America (like me and EMF). And oh look my Tamagotchi P's has died so that's a good time for me to put aside my colour Tamagotchis and all my other versions created by Bandai Japan for a week and I'm only going to run my Tamagotchi friends and other versions of mine made by Bandai America (and enjoy them, of course), just so I can appreciate Bandai America and all the amazing things they have done for us.

Not trying to be mean or anything in my post, just trying to stand up for Bandai America, as I too am fed up of people bashing them the way they do.

Nowadays in this modern time we live in we have all different kinds of technology to entertain us.

High-tech tech.

Colour techy tech.

Feature filled tech.

When the TMGC+C came out, I think Bandai was trying to, I don't know, become more modern?

Of course, when one tries to fit in with all the techy tech modern world, one is bound to become subject to comparisons, criticism and what-not.

I think that's what has happened to the Tamagotchi and the Colour.

People have automatically begun to compare it with the techy tech modern jazz out there. They've forgotten that the Tamagotchi itself is on a totally different level.

You bring the magic with you when sliding that 2032 disc into the battery container. You're excitement and your joy is brought to life as the familiar beep and the hatching egg absorbs your imagination.

These complaints come from people who don't care about this kind of magic.

They can't see how a P1, Version 1, TF can entertain you. Where's the features? Where's the colour in which your mind doesn't have to do any work? Your mind doesn't have to create this bond between you and the tamagotchi?

Whether it be colour, whether it be a bashed-and-broken tamagotchi, whether it be a P1, Version 1, TF, iD L, P's (hm okay name any random tamagotchi)

It does not matter what features it has.

It doesn't matter whether it's in colour or not.

Complaining to Bandai America about not creating a feature-filled colour tamagotchi is pointless!

Because even if one comes out, will you be happy? Will you be satisfied?

If you're not already by the previous tamagotchis, then most likely no.

Without your enthusiasm and excitement the tamagotchi is still a black-and-white pixelly piece of plastic with little moving pictures inside the screen.

I'm sorry but you may be fed up with the people "bashing tamagotchi friends" but I'm fed up with you complaining about the true demographic disliking a product. These toys are made for US to purchase and enjoy and we have all right to complain if a product doesn't suit it's consumers needs and wants they may say the target is different but the overall fanbase and target should be what bandai America is going to aim it's products for. In actual fact, bandai America is risking a major downfall in trying to innovate their products.

A true tamagotchi fan knows the brand and knows what is needed to make the toy better and the fact these opportunities bandai has been given to revive the product to it's true potential is complete and utter BULL. As a kid personally me and my friends when we had tamagotchi loved the caring but also the ITEMS within. The toy it's what keeps people wanting to check the pet constantly to see what new toys are in the shop for their pets to play with and what rare ones may appear. People like you and XxKayaxx who say it's an improvement to the vintage and connections are totally wrong they are anything but, the TF has nothing better than the older versions becuase the olders were much better than this fails attempt at an innovated product.

You should stop complaining yourself and let people's voices be heard becuase it's just a product made for REAL tamagotchi fans and everyone Inbetween meaning it should be BETTER to tailor for our needs not to buy a product for the sake of it to do so it needs to atleast have some effort into having reason to buy it.

I don't see how you have to hate Tamagotchi to be a fan. Fed up with me supporting Tamagotchi, too bad. Want me to hate Tamagotchi Friends as much as you do, never gonna happen! How can you hate a Tamagotchi so much? Sad, sad, sad. You're just trying to make it out that you're the best fan ever because you hate Tamagotchi friends. :) You don't need to justify your hatred. You're just jealous I love and support Tamagotchi so much. I'm frustrated by peoples' hatred for Tamagotchi. How can you be frustrated by someone's love for Tamagotchi?

I don't care about items. I care about the characters themselves. And as long as I can look after Tamagotchi characters, I'm happy.

Like I said, the target audience is little girls, not 13+ boys.

Look at this, the kids LOVE the Tamagotchi Friends!

I never said I hated it I am just unhappy with the lack of potential this toy could've had and how dare you accuse me of hating tamagotchi because I dislike one version I don't have to love every version. What? I dislike tamagotchi friends so now I "HATE" tamagotchi? Don't be so ridiculous. Are we all not fans for disagreeing with one tamagotchi that should have qualities at a fan approved

Level?

Also like I said target may be little girls but the DEMOGRAPHIC is EVERYONE the toy is marketed to new owners but the total potential market is like Pokemon, it can be for anyone. If you look at the 4U it's no joke made "for you" targeted to 20-30 year old nostalgic woman but the demographic in Japan is children due to the anime, it has the features all fans love and expect from a toy. Sure some young kids may like the TF it but to gain real profit it needs to be attractive to a wider audience in the long run to survive.

Take furby and furby boom for example, it's target were little girls but due to it's full innovative qualities it became a toy EVERYONE wanted young, old male or female it was a success. And that is what bandai should've done.

You just don't understand emf leave everyone alone we should dislike a product without being titled as not a "true fan".

says the person who goes around begging people not to like Tamagotchi Friends

People, are you forgetting Bandai is not only in america and japan? god, everyone is refering to bandai america as if bandai UK/Europe and Asia didn't exist.

I personally don't hate any tamagotchi because of the screen or the number of features, what matters to me the most is the design, characters, and WHAT are those features they have.

I dislike Tamagotchi Friends as I dislike the Tamagotchi P's, the thing is Tamagotchi P's at least had some option to customize your tamagotchi inside, while the Friends doesn't.

The thing is not a colour screen or not, greyscale tamas are awesome and have some stuff color ones don't, I love them both a lot, and I'm kinda glad someone is still making greyscale tamagotchis, just the TF is not something I like, I wouldn't like it even if it was in colour obviously, I dislike the characters and the silly jewelry features it has, also the designs do not have much variety either, they are all in the same colours, it's kinda boring.

I loved previous greyscale tamas because of the adorable animations and cute characters they had, I love how they keep always jumping around the screen instead of turning off like color tamas.

they also had really nice games so you would never get bored of them.

I personally think the Tama-Go was perfect as it was, and I'm really sad it got as bad reviews as it did, since it was a pretty good Tamagotchi where with figures you could have up to 12 games in a single tamagotchi, it had faceplates, and some cute features inside. The Friends is pretty much a bad Tama-Go for me: wose characters, no extra content, and girlier design.

I'm glad Bandai is making still tamagotchis outside Japan, but I'll wait for the next one to see if it has better characters and features than TF's, hopefully one based of the latest anime season instead of yume kira dream as the Friends is.

Also of course children love it, they have never had another tamagotchi to compare this to, so for them is perfect. they wouldn't say they don't like it in front of TV anyway xD

@myiko I totally agree and the tama go was actually really good and did much more than the friends even though they use most of the same graphics I actually wish it was more successful. But bandai America and eu are the same company just different distribution headquarters and bandai Asia is just the distributed for Asia Oceania. Bandai America create create and distribute the foreign toys while Japan produce their own national toys.

I used Bandai America because it's the major company that created English language Tamagotchi... I personally live in Australia anyway. ;P

That's what makes the 4U special, is ''for you'', you can get whatever you want in your tamagotchi, the characters you want, the games you want, the clothes you want. It is basically meant to appeal to EVERYONE! You can't be wrong at marketing something to everyone.

The Tamago didn't reach such high level of customization, but it had the feature of hadding new stuff to your Tamagotchi, as the P's does. Also the TamaGo had faceplates so you could have your own design.

The TF's, is more like, have this and deal with it, you can't change anything in it, and you don't have much varriety to choose from.

A true fan doesn't have to love every single version, I dislike the Ocean, the P's and the Friends. Some people dislike some versions I love like the Uratama or the Genjintch, fans have different opinions. If someone likes TFs then great, it is the kind of tamagotchi they like. But you have to admit the Friends was not meant to be ''for everyone'', so it's normal for more people to dislike it.

Basically no Tamagotchis were meant to be for everyone. Always either girls, or kids, or both. I love every single version because the very fact it's a Tamagotchi makes me happy enough.

That's nice to know but it doesn't mean you are the biggest or best tamagotchi fan. Tamagotchi may not have originally been for everyone but TODAY in the present the toys original popularity has shown now that it can be.

That's not true at all, go look for some of the comercials for different versions, for example the V3, V4 and V6, they were target to BOTH girld and boys, kids and teens.

The Tama-Go didn't even show anyone at all in the advert, so I'm guessing it is pretty much meant for everyone too.

the TF is JUST targeted to small girls.

Let's go back to the start shall we. Tamagotchi was created for teenage girls, to give them an idea of what it would be like to take care of children. It then later evolved to a gender-neutral toy as it seems to attract both genders. Also, it was aimed for the older audience as it simulates caring for children. After the vintage series, the connection series was created. It was aimed for children and teens alike, not much for adults. It was gender-neutral again. It had floral designs that girls may prefer as well as fiery and "cool" designs that boys tend to lean to.

Going back, EMF said "Like I said, the target audience is little girls, not 13+ boys."

Well umm... That's just not a valid excuse as it was, since then, a gender-neutral toy and it's just now that it become girly. Ever since then, Tamagotchi was gender-neutral and that's why we have the right to complain as they took the gender-neutralism was taken away from us. You probably don't know how it feels as a guy to bring out my Tamagotchi out in the public. My friend even said "What's that gay crap you're playing huh." And I got offended. And that's just one instance. It happened several times. Every company can't just take something out of their product. And that's what Bandai just did. They took away the gender-neutralism out of these amazing toys. It's like making the iPhone a girl-only gadget. It's not right.

We have the right to complain. It's for the better. If Bandai receives only praises, then they'd go to the direction they see. And that's an all-girl market. We have a lot of guys in the Tamagotchi fanbase too and Bandai might lose them all if this continues to happen. That's why we can complain. Bandai can then correct their mistakes through addressing our problems. If you're a real fan, then you address the wrong things to make it better. It'll be Bandai's gain and our gain. Nothing will be lost if we send problems. But will Bandai lose anything if they continue to go to the all-girl direction they go? Yes. A lot of male fans. And that's a huge loss. Huge.

"I don't see how you have to hate Tamagotchi to be a fan."

You don't. But we choose to. For the better.

So it's better to hate Tamagotchi than to love it? It makes Bandai want to make Tamagotchi "better"? Why not just be happy for what it is?

Think about your friends. Would you hate your friends to "encourage" them to become better? To REALLY love your friends, you need to complain about them? That makes no sense! I don't see what needs to be complained about Tamagotchi anyway! I don't care what other people think... people just want more hatred in the world when there already is enough.

I'm tired of people complaining about it being for girls. Even the connection series characters are cute with big heads and kawaii eyes. It's about looking after a pet. The cute characters and nurturing feature automatically make it seem for girls, whether boys are in the target audience or not. Stuff for boys is usually about monsters and battling, not a little device with cute critters to feed and play with.

What do you expect Bandai to do? They tried to appeal to both boys and girls before, but now the franchise has failed. Whereas in Japan, it is aimed at girls and is super popular. So Bandai UK/America did what Bandai Japan did and made it for girls.

There's an Aesop's fable where there's a guy who likes two girls. One of them likes his hair and the other one likes him bald. So, to please both of them, he shaves half his head but not the other half. Both girls despise his hairstyle and he ends up with neither girl. The moral is, "Try to please everyone, and please no one."

You CHOOSE to like something that's for girls, so no reason to be a fan and then just complain constantly... no matter what changes Tamagotchi goes through, I'll stick with it until the end.

Why don't I hate Tamagotchi Friends? Why don't I complain about Tamagotchi being girly and all that rubbish? I used to complain about it being girly and stuff but not anymore because my love for Tamagotchi has strengthened more than ever before and now I love it for what it is rather than being so fussy...

You WANT me to hate Tamagotchi Friends so that Bandai will make "better" Tamagotchis. But you should love a franchise for what it is. Not what you WANT it to be. Don't like Barbie Dolls and expect them to make battling Barbies that come with weapons and armor...
