the app is sucessful? more like bad news because it'll attract even more #hashtagging #hippies into our #tamagotchi #fandom #lol #kidstoy #90's #nostalgia dO yOU WANT THAT ON TT

Well, I think it's nice that people show interest in tamagotchi again. If the next app will be successfull as well, maybe they gonna dish out a new tamagotchi. Well, probably not. I honestly can't see them making an english color tamagotchi and they surely don't want another 'failure' as the Tamago again.. but maybe they brand out the app and include a new tama town with it, with more socializing aspects? I think that would be cool, a tamagotchi online plattform, that is. And it would definitely get Tamagotchis more reception!

Well, since I'm not living in the US, I don't need to think about this anyways.

Don't you guys feel happy since the app has somehow brought many people's interest back into virtual pets?

Yes, it is disappointing that it's an app rather than a physical toy, but nonetheless - as Anz Falcon previously mentioned, the success of L.i.f.e. will help Bandai Japan gauge if bringing it back in North America is feasible. If what the news says that the reaction is "positive", shouldn't it sound good at the very least? Rather than saying that L.i.f.e. failed and Bandai will cease all Tamagotchi-related activities altogether.

I personally don't mind hipsters and other groupies join the fandom... Tamagotchi is made for everybody to enjoy - regardless of age, gender, race or anything else.

Just to pitch in my two cents here... I think it is great if additional apps are being released. If Bandai shows an interest in continuing to develop the tama universe it is a good thing. The alternative is they not release ANYTHING. In previous discussions with Bandai folks they mentioned how electronic devices like smartphones and iPods were already killing sales of the standalone Tamagotchi since people had easy access to thousands of game choices and options for fun things to fidget with... I'll take an app any day over nothing at all. Bringing new people into the fandom is always an ongoing thing (as many people who have been around here since the early days will attest to.

I'm glad Tamagotchi is still popular and that the app is successful, but I just have no interest in raising a pet on my phone. Part of the fun of Tamagotchi for me is that it's more than a video game. It's a pet. I've tried other virtual pet type things on game systems and my PC but I don't get attached to them the way I do Tamas. I see it as just another videogame. And frankly if I'm playing a video game I'd prefer to be killing than nurturing.

I'm glad Tamagotchi is gaining new fans and bringing old ones back with the app. But I'm not sure the type of fans who would prefer an app over an actual device are the best for Tamagotchi's continued survival. These are the type who grab onto the next popular thing and then ditches it the second something newer and shinier comes out. It doesn't take a lot of interest to download an app. They're willing to get it if it's free or only costs a couple dollars but they don't care enough to pay any more or make any effort to try to experience all the brand has to offer. Here on TamaTalk we have people who have followed the brand from it's beginning in the 90s to it's present state. People who care enough to import Japanese Tamas and learn how to use them despite not speaking a bit of Japanese. I'd be willing to bet a lot of those downloading the apps don't really care that much about Tamagotchi itself. They just like virtual pet games and just see the Tamagotchi L.I.F.E. app as just another in what is a flood of virtual pet games available as apps. And believe me there are tons of copycat virtual pet apps. They'll play it for awhile and then ditch it for the next hot game that comes along. That's the way things like this work. The best we can hope for is that the app brings in new hardcore collectors. People who like the app enough to start collecting and playing with the actual devices. And maybe if we get enough of those types we'll see a new device released. If not there's always Japanese Tamas. But if Bandai Japan gives up on the devices we may be in trouble.

all i can see in the future is "Tamagotchi Life Tamagotchi" which would be a fat huge version of the life app for "easier play"

OMG. I'm just gonna download this so I don't have to put Angelgotchi on my Wishlist but it would be better to get the hand held egg Angelgotchi though -_-

I'm actually excited that an Angel app is going to come soon! I've been wanting one for ages. :)

I'm glad that they're making an Angel app, that way more people can expierience the Vintage Tamas without having to pay a lot. Although, in my opinion, having an actual Tama with you is a lot better than taking care of one on an app.

Meh, I've given up already. I'm completely ignoring BanDai from now on. I have Animal Crossing to keep me happy now anyway.

At least the iPhone game developing bubble is starting to crash.. Heh..

Bandai America is dead to me until they start making real Tamas again. Which admittedly probably won't happen at least for awhile. But Bandai Japan is still cranking them out so they'll be the ones getting my money.

I am surprised they aren't doing a double release with the Devilgotch.

Glad they are still listening to the fact people wanted the angelgotch to come back. That petition here, its been here for a longtime and I am sure its been seen. Its not in the original form we want, but hey, better then nothing or scraping the whole tamagotchi thing for another 10 years or more like some toys get...

Which is why if my phone had the capacity to download apps I'd probably download the Angel one just to be able to experience the Tamagotchi Angel in some form. I got into Tamagotchi in late 99. By that time Tamagotchis were all on clearance and all the Angels were long gone. Also I love your new Avatar SailorRosette.

I never seen them in stores... So I got lucky on Ebay getting my angel. People told me they were in Dollar stores. A store I don't frequent. I would love if my phone was an App phone... I am looking forward to seeing what they do to the App for the Angel. Even if I am not really in love with my P1 App.

(BTW, thanks)

I just hope that they improve the app itself while they're at it!

I'm not a huge fan of the logo and I don't like the process needed to get new shells. A star for every new character? Considering how it takes about a week for the characters to change, I find that a bit much! It would really help if they added a pause feature too.

Yay! I'm so excited! I'm getting the Tamagotchi L.i.f.e.: Angel Edition app just as soon as it comes out!

Do we know if these apps will be rolled together or if they will be entirely separate? I don't know that I would want to attempt running two Tama-apps on the same device simultaneously. But either way, I'm ecstatic that Bandai had so much success with the first one. I'm looking forward to what they release next.

What I'm hoping is that they keep the multiple color schemes for adult and secret characters that were present in the G1 app. It would be fun to see what they come up with for alternate colors as far as the Angel characters are concerned.

Oh, and maybe a bonus shell, background, or something for getting a Lucky Unchikun? As long as getting a Lucky isn't the only way to get said unlockable, that is... considering how hard they are to come by. :)
