Tamagotchi 4U or another version?

I've just almost purchased a Tamagotchi 4U Plus, but realized if I want to connect to use the app I would need to have an android device (I'm an Apple fan boy) and I have nothing capable of NFC.

My question is this - is it worth getting the 4U Plus although I'm unable to read Japanese or is it better to go for an English version/a version that I can patch to English?

I have an iPhone/Macbook so I'm thinking I might be able to patch the ones that use infrared?

It's up to you, tbh. Look at the content each one has to offer and then make your decision.

I have the 4U and 4U+ with no Android device. I get bored with the lack of built-in characters and have recently ran my P's (English patch, although doesn't matter much) just because I find there's more to do without it being too demanding.

Edit: THAT SAID, I do have all of the pierces so I may be biased >.<

Ok I've gone for a tamagotchi P's instead, bought an infrared adapter for my Macbook so I can (hopefully) install the English patch!

Now the month or so waiting game for it to be delivered...

Cancelled my order and got a 4U+ instead..

Couldn't find any reasonably priced pierces and figured someone might someday find a way to patch the 4U+ (and I prefer the built-in characters to the characters on the pierce)

If you live near an electronics store with Samsung phones (newer ones like S5, S6, etc.) You can use them in store just to use the app for downloads if you want

That's a really good idea actually! Well it turns out one of my best friends at university has a Nexus 7 and 10 and she's said I can use it to download the app and get all of the downloads I want, hurray! I'm sooo excited, it should be arriving sometime next week.
