Taking forever to age 1 year...

My tamagotchi is 5 years old, and I have heard that the matchmaker will come when it is 6, 7, or 8.

How long does a Tamagotchi "Year" take?

24 hours (with out pausing.)

So does it have to be 24 straight hours? Or does the time that it's paused just not count but the rest of the time does?

Paused time doesn't count in its age. It's like being in suspended animation where your growth stops but everyone else moves along quite normally.

Sleeping and awake times do. So simply put, don't pause your tamagotchi if you want it to grow
