Hello again! I have a Tamagotchi that just recently lost it's sound due to one of the wires detaching. I'm trying to open the cover to get to the circuit board, but it appears one of the screws is stuck, because it will not budge from it's spot. It isn't stripped, and I use a cheap screwdriver that is used to fix eyeglasses (the screwdriver itself is as small as my index finger). Do I need a new screwdriver, or is my tamagotchi out of luck? Thank you in advance. :)

I'm not at all an expert, but I would recommend getting a different screw driver and trying that. I would rather try everything that I could (within reason) before I give up on my TMGC. I think there is a way to get stripped screws out.

I can often get those stubborn inner screws out by laying the Tamagotchi flat in one palm, then slowly unscrewing with my other hand while applying very firm pressure. The screws in Tamagotchi Connections aren't particularly prone to breakage like those in vintage Tamagotchis, so should be able to withstand a bit of pressure while you try to remove them, but definitely go slowly and try to be careful or you may strip or break the head :)

If you can't get it out, it might be useful to get a 00 screwdriver with a proper handle - sometimes little eyeglass screwdrivers can be a bit slippery to work with  You might have read on the forums about JIS screwdrivers, but it is only really important to invest in a 00 Japanese JIS screwdriver when handling vintage Tamagotchis which have much softer metal screws. A phillips 00 will work just fine for your V3, and should be easy to find.

If the screw isn't stripped and you just can't get it out, perhaps ask another person to give it a go. If all else fails, I've heard some people spray a tiny bit of WD40 around stuck Tamagotchi screws to help remove them. I've never tried it, though I would be cautious, as in this case you're dealing with the inside of a Tamagotchi rather than the outer plastic. All the best! Let us know how you go!

~Got a sufficiently wide rubber-band handy? Place it on top of the screw head then try to unscrew the screw slowly pushing really hard. Sometimes the rubber will give you the extra grip needed to get that screw out.

~If you've gotten the screw partially up and the head is exposed, get a pair of needle-nose clamping pliers or at the least try a pair of non-clamping needle-nose pliers. Many a time my trusty needle-nose clamping pliers have got me out of a “stripped screw” situation.

Thank you both for helping!! I'm very pleased with the responses! I'll try it once more, and if I fail to get the screw out again, I'm going to make a trip to the store to find a different screw driver! I'll try out using a rubber band as well. Thanks again!

EDIT: I ran to Walmart, and got a set of 44 screw drivers (a little extreme, I know!), and in that set, there is a #00. I tried it on the stuck screw, and it worked PERFECTLY! I tried rubber bands, that didn't work too well. Others offered to help, but they also couldn't get it. Thank the lord I was able to get that screw loose! Thank you to you both, again!
