Just as your Tamagotchi character will turn dirty if not bathed, each room will turn dirty if not cleaned.

Different rooms require different tools.

vacuum cleaner for living room & bedroom

mop for kitchen & toilet room

deck brush for bathroom

These cleaning tools can be purchased from TamaDepa. (You'll need only one of each; they don't wear out.)

the correct tool to use for the living room and bedroom is the vacuum.

Yeah, like Binary said, the room's just dirty. You have to buy cleaning tools to clean it from the TamaDepa. (On the iD L it's red when the rooms dirty)

go to the store and buy the according cleaning supply for that room, and use it. the room's color will return back.
