I think it should be.
And neither is handling scissors, knives, telephones, TVs, glass, tins, metal, cold medicine, fluffy bunnies, cats, money, batteries, soda cans, baked beans, fluffy pillows, comforters, electronics, computers, or microwaves. But they shouldn't be able to smoke. It can affect small infants. It isn't right. And it's not safe.
Where I live its illegal to smoke within 30 metres of any shop/restraunt.No.
The only time it should be illegal is during pregnancy, around small children, and indoor in public places, and that's purely because it effects people around the person smoking.
If a person wants to smoke, that's their choice. The law should have no say in it.
But seriously SK, if women are going to smoke when they are pregnant, they probably would anyway even if it was against the law.No.

I have lost several family members (Thankfully, none of them were immediate family members) to lung cancer caused by smoking. I still do not think it should be banned.I respect that. But why do people just HAVE to smoke? How would you feel if you lost a family member to smoking?
So? They can find new jobs! Smoking causes 15% of Global Warming! In about maybe 15-20 years New York and many other places are going to be flooded because of Global Warming!I have lost several family members (Thankfully, none of them were immediate family members) to lung cancer caused by smoking. Many, many people would lose jobs. There are hundreds and hundreds of people who grow tobacco, sell tobacco, work in cigarette factories, etc. They would all lose their jobs. People would get in trouble and arrested for smoking; a habit they can't break. It is something addictive; you can't just stop as soon as a law comes out saying "Oh, it's illegal to smoke now!". It took my father from the time I was seven years old to the time I was 13 to be able to successfully quit smoking after many failed attempts. Wouldn't you feel terrible if your mother or father was sent to rehab or put in prison because they smoked cigarettes and then couldn't quit after the law was made?
Second hand smoke doesn't effect people that much. It is someones own decision to smoke, and it really does not harm many people but themselves. I do agree that there should be restrictions on where people can smoke (I don't think it should be allowed in enclosed, public areas), because some people do have asthma or other health problems that smoking could effect.
I completely agree with that. >.< I think we're the only 2 people in this topic that thinks that smoking should be illegal. Making smoking illegal is something I STRONGLY agree with.I respect that. But why do people just HAVE to smoke? How would you feel if you lost a family member to smoking?
Okay, first of all, that is completely untrue. Secondly: So? They can find other places to live. So? They can find new jobs! Smoking causes 15% of Global Warming! In about maybe 15-20 years New York and many other places are going to be flooded because of Global Warming!
