My mom said I can't shave anything until I get my period. She says I'll probably get it within the next year or 2.

I just checked and my armpit hair is more noticeable O:

But they aren't so hairy, so I'm fine.

My leg hair is not light but not dark. In the summer I spend a lot of time in the sun, so my leg hair becomes kinda unnoticeable and my hair becomes more blonde.

I use Nair to shave my legs, and a razor to shave my pits.

The Leg hair and pit hair gets really dark.

I shave my legs if I plan on wearing Capri's or Shorts, or a skirt, or leggings. And I shave my pits if I plan on wearing a top that makes my pits visible. A regular shirt and pants, I won't shave.

I think I started shaving when I was 12 and a half.

I agree with Michelle, Grow up! its not gross. Its life.

You're a Boy...So? You'll have to learn about Periods one day Kid. Everyone does. Girls usually know more, but boys need to have their period knowledge as well.

Besides, this topic isn't about periods. Its about shaving.

Maybe "bikini line" means something different in the States... (although Esther is English...).
In the UK it means only removing the hair that would show / that grows outside the area of your knickers or bikini bottoms.

If you are talking about removing all hair down there - that's not what I call the "bikini line" - that's what I call a "brazillian".

I'm surprised you guys feel it's necessary if you are sexually active! :D

(Most guys really aren't picky about hair or no hair - they just want sex...) :(
All hair is called Bikini AREA, lol.

What I meant is that some guys DO care because, erm, while having it, they might wanna "get down there", know what I mean? They dont wanna deal with all that hair. Thats what I meant.

And TamaMum, I dont live in the states anymore, sorry! xDD

Bikini line = The hair that may be visible with your bikini or underwear on.

All the hair down there would be the pubic area.

Well, thats how it is here.

I shave everything, minus waxing my eyebrows.

I've never tried waxing or other things for legs, etc. Not really wanting to XD Shaving is easy enough.

I think I started shaving around 10 or so.

I have an easy way to describe the bikini line.

It's where your thighs connect to your pelvis, basically where your underwear sits.

The hair there can sometimes stick out below the underwear/swim bottoms, and it's pretty awkward, especially at a beach. So people of all ages shave that so they don't have to deal with embarrassing hair.

Now. What you're thinking(shaving/waxing all over), is a Brazilian. Where you shave/wax EVERYTHING. Bikini line and the rest of the pelvic region.

Brazilian can be considered more sexual, but it can also be a personal preference like in my case. I'd personally feel clean than feel like I'm smuggling a squirrel in my underpants. It's not a sexual thing at all unless you personally make it one.

Bikini line isn't sexual at all, because even if you shave your bikini line, you can still have hair on the rest of the area. Bikini line is strictly the area that connects your thighs and pelvis. I've also never heard it called a 'bikini area'. Pelvis region/area, yes. Bikini area sounds like it was made up by people who don't know what they mean.

Wow, that squirrel part really made me laugh! ;)

But when it came time for me to shave, it wasn't my idea at all. I wasn't even concerned about it at the time. I practically didn't even know the hair existed yet. My mother came up to me one day, handed me a razor, showed me how to do it, and told me that I needed to start. I've been shaving ever since.

Thank you SK.

That squirrel bit made me laugh.

I'd rather wax down there than shave because shaving it'd just come back blunt and prickly and I'm pretty sure that fail if it was for sexual enjoyment.

I'll stick to shaving my legs and nothing else.

It is XD Grow back down there is irritating to no end, but it's worth it in my eyes.

Well, I might start soon. My legs are starting to get pretty hairy, and now that it's summer I wear shorts all the time.

I have a question:

Nair hair removal cream/gel sounds easier than shaving. I would like to use it, but I have really sensitive skin. Would it irritate my legs?

If you leave it on for a long time yes. Its burns like crazy, I used it on my legs and it made red scratches on them and it hurted alot. Nair and hair removing products are more simple because you just put it on and wait 60 seconds and wash it off. It takes the hair off by the roots so it takes longer for the hair to grow back, shaving just shaves the hair so it grows back faster. You have a better chance of getting cut by shaving if your pressing down too hard or the blade is dull. Getting cuts by shaving also hurts alot. It stings, bleeds and leaves ugly scars.

So the shower Nair stuff won't burn?
If you have really sensitive skin, the chances are it will burn.

The only way to know for sure is not to ask other people. They don't have your skin, so they can't be sure of the answer.

You'll have to buy some and test a small patch of skin to see if your skin reacts badly.

If it does... well, give it to your mom or another female friend - but don't use it yourself.
