Resolved: Pix character & name keeps changing??

Hi,
Kiddo got a TamaPix for Christmas.
First one was defective - wouldn't turn on correctly all the time, and Tama character kept changing.

Got a replacement, and seemed to be working well for a day, but then character changed again.

We're new to this, but don't think it was 'growing up'.

It was a little blue character with a specific name -- then all of a sudden, next time we turn it on, it's a duck looking character with a new name. It didn't hatch, it was just different all of a sudden.

Kiddo got upset, left it alone for a few hours, went back in, it had changed again. Again, the name of the character was totally different.

We're assuming that the Tama's name wouldn't change throughout it's growth cycles - is that right?

Is it just another glitchy one that we should return?
Tips/thoughts?

Was this only in the span of a few hours with each character change? If the last change took a day then the Tamagotchi is naturally getting older, with it now being in its teen stage. The names of the character does change as it "grows up". (Tamapatchi becoming Tantotchi) If it's changing suddenly and randomly then I'm not sure what the problem is.
