Yep just a Sanrio virtual pet. I remember seeing the hello kitty ones in the Sanrio stores.

Tamagotchis aren't the only virtual pets out there. Just because it's looks like a tama doesn't always mean it is a tama. Make sure it says it's by Bandai or something like that before declaring it fake. (More info HERE)
