My question's a bit.. Eh, it's not a question, per--*shot*

"why were we, as little kids, mad at our parents for saying, 'how do you do x'?"
I'd assume it was because the kids were irked by the fact that their parents actually needed a child to teach them how to do something they were forced to figure out on their own. This logic isn't perfect, of course, but it's enough to keep kids everywhere complaining about their parents' idiocy. If aaaaanyone wants to refute/add on *nudge*

What is your stance on genetic engineering?
*casually reposts question*

Well, I'm not against it. I'm not really smart enough in this subject to give a detailed answer, but I believe it could be a potentially good thing however we need to research it further before we decide to use methods of it on even larger scales.

What do you think about groups like the Amish?

Good that they do what they want, but their kids might need a little more freedom to choose the way they live and the enviornment they grow up in

More of those not-quite-questions-but-close-enough things:
Why is it that parents seem to make less of an attempt to resolve differences with their kids?
That came out awkward.-. I mean
Say there's a kid, for example
and he/she listens to trashy music
The parents, after warning him/her a few times with no specific reason as to why he should stop, simply confiscate his/her MP3 player, etc.
another example: you're talking to a guy you only know through the Internet? *takes laptop away*
and another, for good measure: talking to a guy at work? you have to quit your job now! and, no, you can't just switch shifts w/someone
Overkill, much? I can understand how "kids will find ways to do what they want," but why not try to explain the reasons whatever the kids are doing is bad and why they should stop?
Do parents not have good reasons? Is it just extra paranoia coupled with the overused "I know what's best for you"?
I have no issues with my parents. Just decided post some prattle about issues I see.

also
sometimes
when kids do something their parents don't want
say, follow a different religion or pick up a hobby they don't want to have
it feels like this:
"NO LAPTOP FOR YOU;
YOU MUST HAVE LEARNED THIS FROM THE INTERNET"
With virtually no attempt to coax their kids into doing what they want and simply cut them off from information (that they probably didn't even see on the internet anyway)?
It almost looks like the paranoid peg everything on stuff they can't control/don't know… ohhahayeahthat'sright they do

if you read that wall of text

congraaaaatulations

now, tell me if it was a waste of your time
