Question about visa cards/banking payment

I have a kinda off topic question.

I got a bank account and my OWN Visa card!!! Yay!

I know people usually use Paypal. But is it possible to pay people directly online with just a bank account/visa card?

E.g. if I wanted to buy something from a member of the Tamagotchi FaceBook groups could I do it with just a bank account/card without using Paypal?

Well, without paypal it is just less secure, for ex. you are sharing your real credit card number to pay on facebook, here are risks if you do that. People could charge you by someway with just your credit card number (think as they are charging you as a bill)

Oh honey. Now, Get a Paypal. Its SO much safer. You don't want that to land in the wrong hands. Not saying the other person is wrong but... The info you give them can be seen by others too. Even a cashier's check is safer...

Do Not send your bank info. EVAR. Easiest way to get into trouble.

Watch where you put it anyway. Paypal will protect you way more then going then going out nude in the open. That is one way to look at it. Bank will not like that, as your parents and yourself if something goes wrong. If its paypal, it can be pin pointed to the person where "in the nude" can't be, not easily.

Ya but I'm 16 and you gotta be 18 to have a PayPal ^^; I don't wanna use my parents' PayPal anymore

There are student accounts though but I'm not too sure about them

Can I stick money from my bank account into a student paypal account?

What I would do is get my parents to make another PayPal account... Then it can legally be their "second" account but you could use it with your bank details. Hah!

I agree 100% with SailorRosette, if you have a bank account never, ever, EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVER (as Chris jericho would say) give out informations about it on the internet without going through PayPal, that only means problems. Of course, it is possible to complete an internet transaction without PayPal but it's very risky.

I don't really know about PayPal student accounts since I made mine when I was 18, but there is something you can actually do; since you're 16, banks offer some pre-paid rechargeable cards (some of them can also be linked to your bank account I think) and you can use those. That way, you can give out the card data, but unless you move money from your bank account into the card (and you do it just right before a transaction) you're safe. Also, nobody even tries to hack pre-paid cards, it's just a waste of time.

Check your bank if they offer such a service, but I'm pretty sure they do since I used to have such a card
